              • Easy option last night: pasta with pesto, grapes for afters.

                Pork chops roasted in apple juice plus fasolakia in the pressure cooker, maybe with some extra Brussels sprouts or broccoli. Mandarines for afters.

                            • I'm think I'm going to have another go at the Coquilles St Jacques today. This time I'll keep a strong grip on the milk when I add some to the potato, with butter and egg yolk, so that I end up, hopefully with smooth, rich mash rather than a potato slurry

                              • In expectation of the chilly next few days I got the makings of a beef stew on my grory hop yesterday. I rarely buy beef, maybe twice a year. I now have two big casserole dishes full of beef, squash, and root veg gently simmering in the oven on slow cook. I've had this stove well over ten years and never used the slow cook setting before so fingers crossed it actually does the job. if it does, I'll scratch slow cooker off my list to Santa. 🎅

                                Popped a rice pudding in as well to make good use of the space.
