Tonight we'll have soup. Either mushroom OR tomato and aubergine. Crispy smoked bacon bits and grated parmesan to sprinkle on top.

Hubby is much better in the kitchen than me (aren't I a lucky lady?). When we ran our guest house, he did most of the starters and mains while I did the veggies and puddings. He has a sweet tooth and would love me to make regular puddings but I'm now type 2 diabetic so tend not to make sweet stuff. However, I do have a weakness for flapjacks and mince pies made with my special cherry and ginger mincemeat.
Today, he cooked a main lunchtime meal of Chinese-style shredded beef steak with red peppers, ginger, water chestnuts and noodles. Delicious!
Tonight - cheese and biscuits I think

Smoked mackerel tonight. (Somehow I managed to accidently order 2 packs last week). We were going to have it with salad but I know that Mr GF will pick and poke at it before, maybe, eating it so I'm going to turn it into smoked mackerel paté with the addition of mascarpone, lemon juice and horse radish. We'll have it with garlic toast and salad.

We had grilled lamb loin chops last night with baked toms, grilled courgette and rice. Really good.
Supper tonight should be courgette and ricotta galette but sure as eggs are eggs it'll be imam bayildi to speed matters up. Recipe for galette here if anyone's interested: https://smittenkitchen.com/2010/06/z...cotta-galette/
That orzo recipe looks delicious, Bren. Mr Snoop isn't a spinach fan but loves mushrooms, so I reckon that's a go-er for us. I've bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks.

Snoop I've made that Orzo recipe before, substituting sliced courgettes for the spinach.
