  • ^Mushrooms and courgettes are a great combination. Thanks, Bren.

So last night I was on easy street: visitors came with food just to bung in the oven. Cottage pie with gravy and peas.

Tonight, a Meera Sodha recipe for baked onion bhajis, another recipe of hers for pea and leek curry, dhal (supplied by visitors) and lemon rice. My first go at making onion bhajis... Melon or perhaps yogurt for pud if we want anything.

        • Mr GF decided that he didn't like the smoked mackerel paté last night. I ended up making him poached eggs on toast.

I really fancy mashed potatoes today. I've got some sea bass that I ought to use. We'll be having pan-fried seabass, mashed potatoes, carrots, and french beans with parsley sauce.

I've spotted some pieces of frozen Victoria sponge hiding in the freezer, so I think I'll make a trifle in the next couple of days. I'll then round up some of the frozen fruit in the freezer and make some "Summer jam." It will probably be a mixture of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and cherry, all zapped together and will free up some freezer space.

No, they're finished now. Grapes are pretty well finished as well. Some left on the vine but nearly all eaten (by us or wildlife) or picked and awaiting juicing for the freezer.

            • Leftover cottage pie with cabbage, carrots and gravy. Possibly a baked peach for pud, though Mr Snoop will campaign for melon.

maybe a mixed fruit crumble with summer fruit from the freezer……I wonder where I got that idea from GF?

                • It looks as if today will be an "eggy" day. I made pancakes, Delia's recipe, for lunch, which we had with a sprinkle of sugar and the juice of a few little tangerines.

We're going to have an omelette this evening with roast vegetables and couscous.

                  • I've taken some cooked beef put of the freezer to make a cottage pie. We'll have it with roast butternut squash, carrots, peas snd gravy.

                    • Beans on toast. I dropped a can down a dozen stone steps. It's rather dinted... Better eat it today.

                          • I have no idea. I have made some egg mayonnaise, so that might be involved in some way and I have got some market bought jam and coconut squares the GGs brought for me, so that's the afters. Just have to sort out the befores now

                            • I have no idea either... Cauli, pear and blue cheese soup appeals. Maybe that would do with a proper pud if I can think of one.
