  • Trout with romanesco, green beans and carrots. Grapes and kiwi fruit for afters.

    Edited: the above for supper tonight. Last night ended up being pasta due to laziness on my part.

            We are having a Thai fish curry.
            I opened a bottle of fizz last night and it’s lovely- so I wanted to recommend it to you.
            It’s the fizzy, nonalcoholic pear juice fromIKEA…
            not too sickly and a lovely flavour. So glad, because I bought 6 bottles and started wondering if I’d made a mistake..but I absolutely haven’t

            • ^^ Fizzy pear juice sounds nice. I once had some pear cider in a bar in Vancouver and it was so lovely. For some weird reason I put some "Original Lucozade" on my yesterday's shopping list. It does taste the same as when I was a kid.

              • I was just thinking…it used to come with an orange cellophane around the bottle didn’t it?
                Does it contain artificial sweeteners in the new ‘original’ one you’ve just bought GF?

                    • Gosh GF….that’s very different from the basic glucose syrup, fizzy water and citrus flavours.
                      Flicking around Gooogle , it looks like the% of glucose syrup has been dramatically reduced since the 1930s…plus adding all those other ingredients!

                            We had neither of the the above options yesterday. We ended up having a corned beef justa. Today we've already had the Sea Bass .... and it was lovely. Snacks and justas are an option for later, maybe even some more of the cocktail sausage rolls.

                              • Guinea fowl casssrole.
                                (We bought a fresh Guinea fowl and removed the breasts for stuffing a turkey breast this Xmas ( along with duck breast creating a 3 bird meat roll instead of roasting a small whole bird)
                                Anyway…we’ll hang on to some of the stock to freeze for Xmas gravy…but enjoy the rest of the bird in a casserole today and probably tomorrow!)
                                Fruit crumble and custard for pudding.
                                ( apple, mirabelles and blackcurrants from the freezer - desperately making room for festive stuff when it comes up on offer.)
