Well I decided that I was making some Coquilles St Jacques type creation I got some Bay scallops out of the freezer earlier. My idea was to pipe some mashed potatoes with added egg yolk, butter and milk around the edge of the dishes first and then put them in the oven to brown the outside of the potato. Then to make a sauce, poach the scallops in it and put it inside the potato ring.

All was going well until my hand slipped with the milk bottle. The potato ended up more like potato slurry rather than mash. I sort of poured it onto two dishes, bunged it in the oven to try and dry it out a bit, made the sauce and poached the scallops and dumped it on top of the slurry.

Well it might have looked pretty awful but it tasted great and we both cleared our plates. The scallops were so tender and just melted in the mouth.

I’m fancying sausage , baked beans and toast for some reason. We have a new dispenser in the village outside the butchers shop- which is closed today. OH has been itching to have a play with it so I suggested getting some sausages . They stock it daily apparently with fresh meats and pates etc …so it’ll be interesting to see how it works!
We already see pizza dispensers and fresh bread dispensers dotted around the place, so this is certainly a first for us!

Roasted green tomato soup yesterday. The recipe included a large quantity of kale, which spoiled it in my opinion. White cabbage might have been better.

We've just had mushrooms and bacon in a white sauce with garlic bread. Grated cheddar cheese added to the sauce to up the protein a bit. I'll make strawberry milkshakes next. I saw a recipe for a peanut butter milkshake that looked enticing online (I love peanut butter), but I'm not sure I'll be able to convince Mr GF.

Nicos, the dispenser outside the butchers sounds very interesting. I hope you got some nice sausages.

It was broken gf!
But the shop for some reason was open so OH got some sausages from him direct.
He's not sure if it’s faulty or someone has purposefully damaged it. Hope not

The idea of buying fresh food from a dispensing machine just doesn't feel very French somehow. Hard for me to imagine French women, and men for that matter, buying food they hadn't seen. Times are clearly changing and I must be getting old.

We're up for roast chicken tonight. First in what feels like ages. The usual veg baked in the brick with it and a pile of green beans on the side as well.

Edited: Too late to start roast chicken. So spinach risotto with pine nuts plus salad. Probably more my cup of tea to be honest.
