  • Roast Chicken breast. Not sure what with yet! Himself will doubtless suggest Justa.

Last night's lamb was tough. The steaks were small but about two inches thick, so maybe I overcooked them

If you remind me nearer the time Snoop Puss - I can post a root to you?
I have a very decent plant I can chop a chunk off.

I'll take you up on that, thanks.

And yes, GF, I've heard that. But I should be so lucky I need to call it Houdini!

              • I’m fancying salmon and broccoli pasta with a creamy sauce.
I bought a load of near end date packets of organic smoked salmon and froze it, so it’ll be a lovely change with the bonus of making a teeny tiny space in the freezer!

                Macarons for pud.
OH bought the fresh ones from Lidl and they are really good. Not sure if you can get them in the UK, but do try them if you can.
I’ve noticed there are loads of savoury ones appearing in the shops. Never tried one .

                • Well, we had the endive salad but not the celeriac steaks. Try again tonight with mixed salad. Grapes for afters.

                      • Yesterday's Moussaka (a supermarket ready meal, I'm ashamed to say) went down a treat with some garlic bread.

I've got some smoked salmon loitering in the fridge that I might just use in a risotto along with some veg and preserved lemon tonight.

                        • No shame in that GF - I very often have a ping meal if Himself is having Justa

                          • Most of the small pack of smoked salmon trimmings went into the risotto along with a good handful of defrosted Bay scallops. I was going to throw a handful of frozen peas in too but they have .... disappeared.... no idea where. I threw a handful of cheap frozen mixed vegetables (peas, beans, cauliflower and carrots) for the last ten minutes instead, and they exceeded my expectations. Tasty and tender. All the other normal things went in and we both ate the lot.

                            Ice cream lollies next.

                            • I have already got some braising steak in the slow cooker with onion, carrots and celery. When it is tender I'll zap it to put in the bottom of a cottage pie. Mr GF won't eat mince, he says it's too gristly.

There will be a spare portion for the freezer and any leftover can be made into potted meat.
