  • We ended up with omelette, beans and chips yesterday... Just what the doctor didn't order. But just what we fancied.

Tray bake today with sweet potatoes, onions, squash, toms, kale and white beans with harissa and lemon. The toms are the hanging toms, so proper summer-grown toms full of flavour. I didn't grow these but will do next year. If you find seeds, give them a try. They are perfect for roasting even if they don't always look that good.

    • Last night was a variation on cheesy pasta with burgers .
      Apricot tart for pud

Tonight is pork in a creamy apple and onion sauce served with Jacket spuds.
Followed by fresh fruit salad with chopped up celebration chocices and custard or vanilla icecream

      • Steak and mushroom baguettes followed by macaroons. Our Xmas Eve tradition.
        Nice and simple but yummy.

        • We had leftover traybake for lunch with panettone for afters to make it feel a bit more festive. And now we're not that hungry for supper. Depending on how we feel, cheese, crackers and open the bottle of port, with more panettone. Or baked pots with burrata and salad, but that feels like a bit too much at the moment.

          Here's the traybake recipe: https://annajones.co.uk/recipes/miso...monds-and-kale

It was delicious. Sweet potatoes instead of ordinary pots and chickpeas instead of almonds. When I made the sauce, I thought it was much too salty due to all the miso, but it was perfect once baked.

          • Scrabbled eggs on toast for tea.
Goose is defrosted, hoicked the gizzards out and weighed the rest. Trying to work out when everything needs to start cooking for tomorrow. I find that it's slightly less stressful if I've worked out a timetable for Christmas cooking.

              • ^Well done that girl. Well sorted, Flo.

Shoulder of pork here with all the trimmings including Yorkshire puds. I know they're not traditional with pork, but Mr Snoop is Yorkshire-born and he'd eat them any time.

No starter and as yet no pud.

                • Roast chicken with all the trimmings today. Supposedly the last of the Christmas pud but I bet we don't manage it.

                  • Turkey Justa for us both, then cheese and crackers. I've not had Christmas pudding again (it was the same last year), only me requested it so I politely said "Don't bother just for me", when secretly wishing I could have it!!

                    • Some of the shops sell little individual Christmas puddings Flo, that’s what I buy as I’m the only one who likes it. Probably on sale now too.

                      stir fry for us tonight.

I might have got one of those Jay. I think I bought one last year when I didn't get a pudding and then couldn't be bothered Thanks for the reminder.

                        • This year, because my husband has generally lost his appetite and is being very picky, I never made a Christmas dinner. We've now had a couple of days of party/buffet type food in small portions spread out through the day.

Yesterday, we had battered prawns with chilli sauce, vegetable bhaji type things, and bean salad. Also mince pies and ice cream lollies.

We're shortly going to have mini chicken and leek pies and mini steak pies with potato salad.

                              • The mini pies (Sainsbury's) were gorgeous, really flaky pastry and a tender, tasty filling. Even though I have half a pack left, I obviously went straight back on their website to order more to freeze. Aaarrgghhh!! Out of stock. I think they had only stocked them for Christmas
