Please be aware that a deepening low pressure system is forecast to move across the UK during Monday, bringing unseasonably strong winds. The models vary as to the track and intensity of the low, but there are likely to be gusts to at least 30mph even in the south. The strongest winds will be on the southern and western flanks of the low, so the further north it goes, the further north the highest gusts will be - these could be as high as 80mph near coasts and over hills, and 60-70mph widely in the band of strongest winds. On the plus side, there is likely to be some rain everywhere, which will be very welcome in areas affected by the drought.
This is a very deep storm for this time of year and if it is as strong as this it will have much more impact than it would in winter as the trees are all in full leaf and there are temporary structures such as gazebos, outdoor furniture and tall plant supports that could easily be damaged.
Advice is to keep an eye on the forecast for your area and bring in or secure anything that could be damaged by strong winds. Adjust travel plans and outdoor activities if necessary as falling trees and possible embedded thunderstorms are potential hazards. Expect the Met Office to release warnings for affected areas in the next day or 2.

The storm has now been named Floris by the Met Office. A yellow wind warning has been issued for the area north of a line roughly between mid Wales (Barmouth) and Scarborough, which means I am just inside it

Sorry for the late post - only just noticed there could be some quite low temperatures tonight in western areas where skies are clear - potentially down to 3 or 4 which is perilously close to a ground frost. Check the forecast for your local area.

It didn't turn out to be anywhere near that cold - I was responding to a Met Office post which implied the possibility of low single figure temperatures if skies were clear. It is a reminder though that if the conditions are right temperatures can fall quite quickly, and when the ground is very dry it cools down more (think of night time in the desert).
