  • Lavender and Lovage is a lovely website. That looks really nice, Bren. Never spotted that on there. We can't get ling or woof here, but I have seen frozen haddock. In fact, I might already have some in the freezer. Will try that later on.

For tonight, fasolakia with a bit of wheat with roasted Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes with maple syrup and chilli flakes stirred through.

An interesting read too…I’d never heard of Woof fish…had to look that up ( it’s called Lupus in France- so I’ll be looking out for that…hopefully it’s much cheaper than monk fish,)
Nicos I'd not heard of Wolf fish either I used haddock this time for my pie.

        • Left overs tonight. I made a mixed fruit crumble instead last night so we’ll be finishing that off too.

              • Tomorrow will be mushroom rissotto with a side salad followed by the fresh pineapple which really does need chopping up and eating.

                  • I've had a packet of quinoa in the cupboard since I don't know when. I was put off by reading that it has lots of saponins. But just the other day I asked a friend was talking about a quinoa salad she makes and she said she never washes it. I'm trying to add more grains to our meals and quinoa would be a good addition. Is it a nuisance to prepare, Bren?

We're up the valley to M's for supper tonight. Beans on toast for lunch would fit the bill as far as I'm concerned.

Snoop this is what works for me.

Rinse a third of a cup of quinoa
In a pan add a third of a cup of water plus a quarter cup.
                        Heat till it simmers
Add the quinoa to pan simmer with lid on for 15 minutes
Remove from heat and leave for 15 without disturbing the lid.
All the liquid should be gone.

                        Hope this helps.

                          • Thanks, Bren. I was under the impression it required repeated washing. As we're careful with water, I thought maybe it was more trouble than it was worth. I'll give it a go. Thanks again.

Well, when I actually had a poke around in the veg drawer in the fridge the only suitable veg I found were leeks, tomatoes, and sweet potato. I was seriously thinking of changing my mind about roast veg but I then grabbed a few garlic cloves off the windowsill and also added some frozen butternut squash chunks and frozen mixed peppers.
