      • The last few days have been an assortment of soups interspersed with such things as poached eggs.

I've made soup again tonight, but this one really hit the spot for both of us.

I sweated onion and then added diced potato and carrot, followed by chicken stock and enough water to just cover the vegetables. When the vegetables were soft I blended them, added milk and a torn up smoked mackeral fillet. I zapped again

I tasted it, a bit bland. The addition of a good teaspoonful of horseradish sauce and a generous squeeze of lemon made all the difference. We'll be having it again, sooner rather than later An ice cream lolly to follow shortly.

          • CG, I like soup, but more importantly smooth soup is one of the few foods that Mr GF will eat at the moment. If I blend it really smooth and put it into a sippy cup he can manage it on his own. I am now getting to be an expert on adding protein.

            • I understand that, went through it with my dad with sippy cups and thickened drinks the lot.
Just never think I fancy soup but I do like it.

              • I regularly think I fancy soup. And Mr Snoop turns his nose up when I suggest it. But if I don't suggest it and just present it, he enjoys it. I should learn a lesson from this: no consulting on meals unless I have absolutely no idea (which usually really means no inclination to cook...).

Tonight: pasta with a courgette and mushroom cream sauce. Our guest isn't one for sweet things, so pud will probably be cheese and no crackers.

Tonight…jacket spuds with tinned salmon and hopefully ( if I can find them in the shops) a watercress and pea shoots salad ( can’t get those in my local French supermarkets)

Cheeses ( British of course!) and biscuits with grapes for pud.
