Sfincione style pizza last night, with gyros chicken strips on top and yogurt and harissa sauce on the side. Very inauthentic in every respect, but really delicious. Will definitely make again. D is Italian and polished it off, including with sauce.

Had a bit more luck with the baguette slashing. Just have to do it really quickly. Now to learn how to make deeper cuts quickly.

If D doesn't cook tonight, I'll make stuffed buckwheat pancakes (broccoli and mato cheese). And yet more bread for the freezer as oven will be on.

Thanks, Mr Bones, I had a razor blade. New lame but still horrendous. Have more of the same dough on the go so will be trying again.

Bulgar tonight with freshly picked broad beans and coriander, shop Tom's, peppers, sun dried Tom's, feta and our own wet garlic.

Snoops, you need razor blade sharp for cuts in dough (scary) I always struggle with it. Agree about poolish and flavour.

    Catch-up time here:

Supper today cooked by D: spatzle with salmon and cream sauce with paprika and pink peppercorns.

Mr Snoop bought a bargain pack of short-dated chicken so:

Tomorrow to be cooked by me: misir and doro wat.

Day after to be cooked by me: pizza with gyros chicken and spinach with yogurt and harissa sauce.

The baguettes I made the other day looked terrible but tasted delicious (made with a poolish, so really well-developed flavour). So want to have another go, but anyone got any advice on slashing them? I've looked online, but all that seems to happen is the dough gets dragged by the blade, not cut.

Edited because still no special letters (a with umlaut in spatzle).

Lunch: pasta dish with courgette and cream sauce.
Supper: fall-off-the-bone rabbit (from freezer) with aubergine fritters and rice. Will make apple and mato cake that I didn't make the other day. Not sure how hungry we'll be, but it'll keep.

Plus a trio of baguettes. Poolish made yesterday.
