    • Good morning all.
      Its 5 degs and dry,
I have a few errands to run this morning so I will get them out of the way first,
Atrip to the post office and the pharmacy x sell.

Flo, glad to hear you're feeling better.

      Have a good day sll,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

      • Morning all.

Late on parade again. Mr Snoop couldn't sleep again and disturbed me. He does his best not to, but once I was awake I couldn't get back off. So a very slow start to the day.

A high of 6 ºC today but it'll be blowing a gale in a bit, apparently, so will feel mighty cold. However, I don't care, as the firewood man is due to call tomorrow, according to his wife. I saw some of his latest supply the other day at the neighbours. Really good and dry, so perfect for the cold conditions ahead. The smiles were very pleased, as they do like a fire at night in the bedroom. And so do I.

Rary, your coffee morning is a great initiative and I hope you can keep it going. A friend of mine in the UK is disabled and can't work. She tells me she's spending almost all her time in bed as she can't afford to keep the rest of the house heated. But she's a member of a club that has what they call Warm Wednesdays, with hot drinks and soup. A great opportunity to socialise for her and everybody else in a similar situation.

I'm afraid I won't be making the soda bread in a hurry. Mr Snoop informed me, after telling me he doesn't like dumplings, that he doesn't like soda bread either. I think it's a texture thing, but they now join the list of thus far only two items he prefers not to eat: clams (too fiddly) and spinach (total aversion).

Busy day ahead. My usual work plus do a bit of a firewood re-arrange to make room for the new stuff.

        Have a great day, everyone.

        • Just had a sad phone call from a friend of my sister in law. I sort of inherited some of her friends when she went into a care home. The poor woman woke up two weeks ago completely blind in her "good" eye. I think she just wanted someone to listen to her really as she is understandably really scared and upset! She lives alone in a small village a few miles away. I have offered to help with a few practical things but I think I'll make her a cake as well.

On a brighter note the tiny bunch of daffs I bought in Sainsburys ttwo days ago

Flo, Mr GF says that the birds here now waddle and if they eat much more they'll not be able to take off!

          • Mornin n’alln’all
Glad yesterday went ok for you Flo. A very sad day for you all. I’m not surprised you got chilled to the bone if you were outside.

Yesterday we nipped out in the camper, got the flour- and of course three other types!
Looks like today could be good for some gardening at least. Part sun and no rain, but it’s still very chill.

Have fun at the Drs gf …no fainting! You can do this lass

Best go and get my wellies on…lots to do out there!

            Keep warm peeps

              • My daffs under the front window have fat buds, I'm checking daily to see if theyve flowered. I filled the veg trugs out the back with tulip bulbs so I'm watching for them appearing too. I seem to still be missing the enthusiasm for growing veg, but it might return in the Spring

                • Good afternoon, feels very cold here just now temperature showing -3c, was out in the garden for a wee while OH was doing housework so safer outside🙄 thanks for the advice about hearing aids, I do have a hearing aid but only the one as I have a perforated ear drum on the other side which means I am deaf on that side, I suppose it's handy that way I can pass a cloth from one side to the other, to clean the ears the one good thing about the hearing aid that I have is that it it has an auto shut off when OH is getting onto me for something, and evedently it would be about something that I wouldn't have done or do😇no doubt a lot of you will know exactly what I mean, as you very likely practice this with your OHs right think I will get off now just for safety's sake, not sure what powers some of you have
Another quick note, GF you do a great deal of community work, thanks and well done
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

A bit of a backlog at the dentist so I was glad I’d taken a book I’m good now for another 6 months.

No buds on our daffodils either not spotted any snowdrops either plenty of time for them to wake up.

                    • Good afternoon all.
It was a ice day here and the tmp now at 16.30 is 6 degs.
Just finished boiling up a batch of cooking apples and plums to make plum and apple jelly.
My daffodils have buds on and last year they flowered on February 3.
I am keeping watch to see if they beat this record.

good grief…a small amount of blue up there again!

Not sure what today will bring but there’s plenty of choice.

Yesterday I was moving an amaryllis which had finished flowering a while ago and spotted a third flower bud appearing on it!…it’s back on display again. So that’s two of my four bulbs which had three flower heads on them. Very pleased!

Anyone up to no good this weekend?
                        whatever you do…keep warm peeps

                        • Good morning.

The missing sun has actually put in an appearance this morning and we are back to frosty weather again. The forecast is mostly cloudy with a high of 7°C.

No plans for anything exciting today.

                            • Morning all.

Sorry to hear about your SIL's friend, GF. I'd be terrified if that happened to me.

Second firewood delivery came yesterday rather than today. No need for me to have firewood envy now! Going to be keeping toasty and warm today. Just as well as it's blue skies outside but extremely cold. Forecast high is 5 ºC for today. I had big plans for sorting out my asparagus beds this weekend, but I think my gardening today might be restricted to going to get some leeks and looking at the brassicas to see what needs eating this weekend.

Plenty to keep me busy indoors in any event, as per.

                              Have a great day, everyone.

Like other peeps, no plans but plenty to be getting on with,
Dull and get with not a sign of the sun
Enjoy the day and wrap up warmly,
