    • I have just had what I hope is a bright idea💡 I keep trying to add protein to different home made blended soups. Also I am trying to make freezer space.

In the freezer I've got different sorts of fish: Cod, haddock, smoked haddock, kippers and smoked mackerel and sea bass. I am now thinking of making different fish soups, probably with potato in among other ingredients. I suppose some of them will be a bit like blended and thinned fish pie. Fish and milk = plenty of protein.

      • Snoop/CG only reason I don’t add baking powder or bicarb it sometimes upsets my stomach. With the pikelets will probably rise more and be lighter.

Tea and toast laid on in the kitchen for anyone interested?
Did anyone spot the Northern Lights last night? …typically it was too cloudy here

Busy day ahead so I best crack on.
Have a lovely day peeps and remember to share those lovely smiles of yours.

            • Morning all.

Thanks, Bren. Good to know. We've just had them for breakfast in the end. Brilliant with the fruit in. Thanks for the inspiration.

It rained hard in the night. More due over the rest of the day. In fact, over the next two weeks by the look of it.

Trying to catch up with work again. Should be OK by the end of the week. Got a few admin-type calls to make too. I've discovered my passport expired at the beginning of December, so must get that sorted asap.

              Have a great day, everyone.

Toast and peanut butter for me today.
Snoop I usually add apple and raisins in my pikelets, once I added blueberries to the batter they came out a unappealing blue-ish purple colour I'll have to experiment with different fruits.

                • Good morning.

It's 7°C and foggy here again. Not my favourite weather by any stretch of the imagination. No sign of the Northern Lights here. I'd love to see them one night.

I intend heading to the kitchen to make coffee shortly. It doesn't feel too cold at the moment, but I will grab my fleece hoody in passing.

I'm expecting my online supermarket shop delivered between 11am and noon. I was going to order some more daffodils, but the tulips I received as a substitution a week and a half ago have been so nice and long lasting (I'm going to bin the remnants today), that I'm trying a small bunch of tulips instead. I need something to remind me that this seemingly endless miserable cold and darkness won't last forever. I'm so happy to live in the modern era, with electricity, central heating, lightweight warm clothes, and the internet. No "good" old days for me, thank you very much. I remember watching "The Good Old Days" on TV with my grandparents in the 1960s. I can't say it appealed to me as a child.

Time for coffee. I'll be counting my blessings as I turn the thermostat up in passing.

I've got coffee now and the fog has cleared. There's even the odd tiny patch of blue visible in the sky. I've noticed that snow has sneaked its way back into our forecast for the end of the week. Can I trust the meteorologists? (Annoyingly no flying pig emojis)

I thought I'd posted this a while ago. Obviously not.

I have been out to my line dancing earlier, not a nice day to be driving.

Bren, when I make drop scones with blueberries I spoon the batter into the pan and then immediately drop a handful of blueberries onto it. That way it doesn't colour the batter. I expect it would work the same with pikelets too.

Sorry about the car, Lottie. Always tricky to find spares for old models. Hope your son finds a breaker's yard that can come up with the part.

The cloud is thinning here to let through glimpses of the sun, a very welcome sight. I spent an hour in the garden earlier, but in the shade, and with the wind blowing, it felt too cold to stay any longer. I moved some self seeded foxgloves, cut back the autumn raspberries, which already had little green buds showing on the stems, and took down the old wire netting and supports up which the sweet peas grow as it was looking rather decrepit.

                              Your hair looks nice, Flo.

                              • Big hug, LD. A difficult decision. A bump like that knocks your confidence.

My mum should have stopped driving. She didn't have the mobility or flexibility to turn in the driver's seat so relied entirely on her reversing screen when going backwards. Almost hit a couple of people on occasions I saw, one of them a lady with a pram. But she was insistent that she was safe to drive because the DVLA online form said so. Sounds like you're a lot more responsible than my mum was, LD.

Have you looked online for the part you need? Not sure what it's like in the UK but even scrapyards here have databases of parts. I can't imagine Spain is more advanced in that respect than the UK.
