Toffee coffee cake sounds lovely combo - are you able to share the recipe CG? OH is basically 1/2 man, 1/4 cake (the other 1/4 being biscuit lol) so he'd be v. pleased if I were to elevate my usual standard coffee sponge
        It's actually a cheat one
Mum has used wrights cake mixes in the past now and again for ease, as she isn't able to bake at the moment I'm using them up (baking for her).

I was using a toffee one but as we like coffee cake I added instant coffee and coffee flavouring.

        • Good Morning All We have a covering of snow but it's raining now. No cake thanks CG, though it does sound delish. I've just added noodles and chicken to make up the chow mein for this evening. Have a good day

          • Raining here and 5 degrees, everywhere is proper boggy, though my raised beds will soon dry out, my second sowing of Onions look to be doing better, I think they didn't sprout because it was so dark lol.

            • Mornin n’alln’all
Just a quick bob in to say high to everyone. Nice to see you Andraste!

Our force 8 gale had blown itself out by the morning crossing , so the ferry wasn’t as bad as I was anticipating.

We are now not far from Sheffield, and we too woke up to light snow…again rained away , but it’s flippin cold!🥶

Pork pie for lunch…I’m in heaven

Keep warm peeps, and keep those smiles coming!

What message do you get when you're locked out, bramble? Is the forum just running slow or are you refused access?

Anyone else having the same problem?

You just add water and oil. Easy.

                            • I have always been a pork pie fan. There is a local butcher that, if you went at the right time of day (late morning), you could buy still warm pork pies, fresh from the oven. A whole new level of pork pie enjoyment. There were countless times when Mr GF and I would sit outside in the car enjoying them, with the still only half set jelly trying to escape down our chins.

I believe the butchers is still there but the local council turned all that area of the city into a no go zone. (A pedestrian only zone, with no nearby disabled parking!)

Another pork pie treat was a certain cafe, belonging to one of the local bakeries, in the now demolished Barnsley Market. Their own warm pork pie, mushy peas and gravy. Mushy peas have always upset me, but I had just to have a few forkfulls as the combination was beyond gorgeous.

I have hardly got gourmet tastes, have I?

I never buy supermarket pork pies. What a let down. I have always fancied having a go at making a pork pie, but not got around to it yet.

Never had one of them that I know of.
I prefer to bake properly if you mean cake mixes are not baking?
