I'm happy to say that I think that I've slept well. I have no recollection of waking up in the early hours .... for a change. The fog that crept in yesterday morning stayed all day, and it is still lurking. I've just looked at the forecast and we suddenly have a 92% chance of snow in the early hours of tomorrow morning.❄️🥶
7 am. I can hear the bin men outside now, not their truck, just the rattle of the wheelie bins being dragged around.
Dry at the moment, but it's wall to wall clouds. Drizzle due shortly (oh, it's just started as I write). Mr Snoop is starting to find these weeks of drizzle and rain a bit depressing (try living here, I can hear you all say). Me, I'm just fed up of mud everywhere (indoors as well courtesy of Jack) and juggling firewood. I can keep enough in the small barn adjoining the kitchen for a few days, but the rest of it is outside, under a big cover, but I swear blind it just sucks in moisture from the air.
good morning all, what a week, glad it's gone,i have caught up on a lot off sleep and what a difference it makes, this weather is out off control, they keep talking snow, then next they say warming up,what do they get paid for,ref car reversal, the main one is replaced, the other is in progress as they say,the leeks seeds i sowed the other week are doing ok,oly a handfull came up,then suddenly others are emerging,so thats pleasing, yesterday the dyson decided it needed a new part, the roller brush gave up the ghost, son has it covered, they lent me a spare one for now, until it arrives, roll on warmer weather, want to get in the garden,am just finishing my second weak coffee, and the washing machine is nearly done, boy i am flying so far today, have a good day everyone
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these
Good morning all, it's dry at the moment but more rain on the way this evening.
Dublin has been hit very badly by storm Chandra with lots of rivers bursting their banks.
Fortunately not affecting us,but we are absolutely watersoaked and sodden.
Snoop I , can sympathise with you regarding the muddy conditions.
We got our back from the garage with a bill of €420. We were not expecting it to be so costly,
Anyway, at least we are mobile again.
Just domestics todayband a bit of jigsaw making.
Have a good day all,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
Morning, don't drink tea so no thanks CG. After the brief interlude where we saw the sun yesterday, back to mono-chrome grey today, 5 degrees but dry at the moment. We really want to go into the hills to watch the skiing and wildlife in the Glen, not sure if the roads are open though, still snowing up there.
As if on cue, I'd just written that when it arrived. It is now put away.
I've just been printing some postage labels for a couple of items that will hopefully be collected in the morning.
I've also been semi-dismantling my old and grotty dining table so that I can get rid of it. I have removed the leaves as it is heavy. I had been looking for a new one for a while, before Mr GF got ill, but hadn't found one that I liked. I rang the district nurses this morning, as following a phone conversation with one of them yesterday, I have taken her advice and they are organising a hospital type bed for him. I am making space in the lounge for it next to the window, where the table lived, so that he can see outside and watch the birds and squirrels as a change from watching TV, although he can do that too of course. He must be feeling pretty awful this morning as he didn't take much convincing to take a painkiller. He's had a mug of tea now, and I'll leave him alone until the painkiller takes effect.
At least the fog has melted away now, but has been replaced by rain.
Afternoon, chilly and breezy today unlike yesterday when the sun made an appearance and there was no wind. Managed a lovely walk. Must have tired me out as I slept until 10am this morning, not like me.
Housework and a visit from my brother in law today and that’s about it.
Hope you are all well and didn’t have too much damage from storm Chandra.
Nice to see you Andraste!
Catch you all later. x
According to the forecast the world should be white It isn't! It's a depressing looking grey .... again.
Coffee required!
Coffee made. Help yourselves.
It must have been cold in the night as when I awoke the first time the heating had come on automatically at the lower nighttime temperature. A rare event.
Apart from now, we have no snow forecast for the next week. Do I trust this forecast?🤣🤣
Royal Mail should be calling this morning to collect a couple of parcels.
Blue sky this morning. Back to drizzle later on, but enjoying the respite.
Off into the village for a few errands this morning. Work to do before and after though. Got a loaf of bread on the go too, so have to fit that it in somehow.
Toffee coffee cake sounds lovely combo - are you able to share the recipe CG? OH is basically 1/2 man, 1/4 cake (the other 1/4 being biscuit lol) so he'd be v. pleased if I were to elevate my usual standard coffee sponge
