  • Mornin Snoopn'all

Happy mommy' Day to all the mommies out there.
Its nice to stop and focus on special moments we had together.

Looks like the wind had blown itself away at last, bit it's nippy here too.

Not sure what today has in store - probably more researching/planning but I really do fancy playing with my seed packets!

OH made the most of my 'quiet' day yesterday - by watching 2 games of rugby! I had thought he was being particularly caring suggesting I took the day off
Looks like there's another match later on today too.

Well...whatever you all get up to - enjoy your day !

    • Happy Mother's Day to all Mums & Grans - hope the sun shines wherever we are today!

I will be taking the dustpan and brush to the plot later and giving the shed and the foldaway chairs a good clean out of all the cobwebs (give me the creeps I'm afraid) and tidying up in anticipation of being able to sit and enjoy the view with a cup of tea in the coming months...

      Have a great day everyone

        • Morning all

          Leg-o-lamb is in the oven.
Off for a walk with dog soon and will visit my dear old Mums grave to pay my respects. No doubt i will get a bollocking for not visiting her for a while, but I am sure she will forgive me. I think I was the favourite of her three offspring so should be ok.

I have a propagator to fill later so will hunt out some suitable seeds to sow.

TTFN and Happy Mothers day to all the Ma's!

              • Hi all, hoping most will be able to enjoy Mothering Sunday in some way. Another family day where many are separated from their families, not able to gather together or celebrate a homecoming. Thank goodness for communications technology in this era of isolation.

Thankful too for spring flowers, germinating seeds (not so much the weeds!) and the prospect of some summer socialising and future harvests. I am on a promise for a lunch at my absolutely favourite restaurant (Le Manoir), a visit to Wisley and the slight possibility of a mooch at the Hampton Flower Show. Crossing my fingers for at least one of those, hope you all have something to look forward to

I was up early again today - it's hard to stay in bed when the birds are singing at you !

                  • Good morning and a happy mothers day to all the mama and grandmas on here.
Bright and breezy but still cold.
No plans for the day so I will see what it brings.

Snadgar, sure mothers forgive their children everything once they give them a ticking off.
                    Leg of lamb sounds good.

Nanny Green, your plans for the day sounds lovely.

enjoy it all whatever you get up to.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                    • Sadly not plans for today bramble just promises of things to come after the 2nd jab I hope, have to hang on until June/July for any sort of fun outside the garden.

Bright and breezy here too and I am not making plans as the sunshine yesterday was a false opportunity. Got very wet and just gathered lots of mud on my shoes, swear I was 2" taller after I finished weeding

Here are a few from a week or two back Nicos.Leeks are doing quite well too. The original intention was to plant stuff herringbone fashion on my plot. I have herringboned one side and will possibly do the other side next year. Beds are narrow, only 2 foot wide with 14 inch paths. That way I can step over them and walk on paths either side to do weeding cultivation etc.
Will be adding cardboard and woodchip to paths once we are allowed to bring transport onto plot in April.
Its a work in progress and is evolving by the day.

This is the logic behind the bed width.

But why be like everyone else and have them square to the path. It's just my quirkiness Nick!

I like your thinking about being able to stand on either path ... I take it you don't grow runner beans My dad always said be different ... I can see lots of benefits . I'll take a look at the video.

I do grow runners but they are in a permanent separate bed. !4 inch wide paths seems to be the norm for market gardens and allows me to straddle the beds or work from one side if I so wish.
