I fancy some comfort food. I'm torn between cottage pie or fish pie.
I've decided on fish pie. As the piece of cod I've got out of the freezer is on the small side I've got a few bay scallops out too. Does that make it a seafood pie? (More like a see food and eat it pie). Parsley is one of the herbs I use vast amounts of and also the one that I've never grown successfully. We'll have it with carrots and peas.
Boiled eggs cut into quarters is good amongst the fish in a fish pie with mash on top, goes really deliciously
We've cut down on the amount of meat we're eating. I bought enough for a generous helping for two for yesterday, but when I came to cook it, it seemed way too much. So liver and onions with kidneys, mash, broccoli and carrots. Plus gravy.
Jungle Jane, hard-boiled eggs sound like a good idea. I'll remember that for another time. The fish and scallop pie, topped with mash, was a great success, and Mr GF ate it all. I sometimes feel as if I struggle to get him to eat enough protein, but I'm sure cod, scallops, milk, and cheddar and parmesan will have given him a good start yesterday. Eggs would be another bonus.
Today, I'm torn between risotto, probably smoked mackerel, leek, pea, and sweetcorn OR some kind of soup.
Yesterday ended up being the smoked mackerel risotto.
Today will be cottage pie. I'm just going to get some of the cooked meat out of the freezer. It won't take too long to defrost, as after I cooked it, I froze it in thin layers in freezer bags.
Pudding will be some of Colin the Caterpillar cake.

One of the local villages does beautiful firm but ripe peaches at this time of year. Perfect split in half and baked with a teaspoon of honey and a sprinkling of cinnamon.
