        • Last night: hake, salad and julienne potato cake. More wine than was good for me...

          Tonight: aubergine parmigiana.
          Location: north-east Spain, where the sun is too hot, the rain too torrential, the hail too big, the wind too windy and the snow too deep. Last frost: usually mid-April, sometimes first week in May. First frost: mid-October.

            Tonight is going to be fish fingers, potato scallops, carrots, peas and lots of homemade tartare sauce.

                    • Just decided I'm going to make a meat and potato pie, with vegetables and gravy. I don't know what put the idea in my head but I've got all the ingredients so I think I'll go and make some pastry now.
