Thanks for that Snoop- I’m steaming as usual. Glad for the warning- It’d be really sad if I’d spoilt it.

At least some of the smiles have come home early. I'm positively beaming.
The firewood delivery is more than I expected in volume and almost all of it perfect for our woodburning range, which takes small logs and is always a problem. I've ordered another load for the range and a load for our woodburning stove in the bedroom. Plus I've ordered a pellet heater and a pallet of pellets. Determined to keep the house toasty warm for Mr Snoop this winter.
Plus, I made up a little desk for Mr Snoop that wheels surprisingly close to his fancy riser-recliner chair. So that's good as well. It looks like mission control now, over by his chair. Still haven't done any work mind. Perhaps if I have my morning coffee at long last that'll spur me on.
Hope you're all having a good afternoon.

I will have you know that I never go up ladders when theres strong winds or heavy, no we will scrub that one, torrential rain or in the dark, well very rarely on that one, so I am what you might call sensibleOriginally posted by Snoop Puss View Post
Me too!
Happy birthday to Mr GF. Hope he enjoys the caterpillar.
Oh, and welcome, armorel, to the club of people trying to stop rary climbing ladders at times when more sensible people would keep both feet on terra firma.

Good evening just had a quick look through previous posts, interesting to see GF skipped buying sizes 14 and 16s
evidently I wont be back on for a time
, occasionally showers this morning, I suppose I should be thankful as I am not missing out in some good weather, however it is frustrating that I cant get some work done, I suppose that should be more work done, thankfully I have the garage where OH cant see me, so fortunate in some respects, I'm off now to make something to eat, so enjoy the evening and GF you know ofcourse I was just joking, no doubt just like me you can still slip into a 34 waist
well I can at least get them up past my knees
, remember to pass on your smiles

Have you thought of getting Mr Snoop a sofa arm tray Snoop? They come in a huge range of shapes and sizes nowadays. I have a really ancient one that I can't use because it will not open wide enough for the armrests on modern sofas. (Which shows how much fashion and styles have changed). It was originally my grandmother's.Originally posted by Snoop Puss View PostPlus, I made up a little desk for Mr Snoop that wheels surprisingly close to his fancy riser-recliner chair. Good morning all.
Silly o'clock again. I cannot sleep. I've had a couple of hours but then Mr GF managed to pinch all the duvet and woke me up.
Also I did something I very rarely do yesterday. After my dinner I fell asleep in a chair. I don't know how long I slept for but I'd missed the first half hour of Bake off when I woke up.
Snoop Puss, the electrically heated throws are really warming if Mr Snoop is feeling the cold. The one that I bought for Mr GF has different heat settings and a timer.
rary, I can remember a few years ago, when I was quite ill, a pair of 34 waist shorts or trousers would have fallen straight down to my ankles. Even a size 30 needed a belt.
I did buy one of the clothes steamers that was on offer. This was prompted by one of the new shirts that I bought Mr GF in the sale a few weeks ago. It actually looks awful if it's not ironed, and it's so long since I used the iron that I don't know, and don't want to know, if it even still works.
Actually the steamer heated up in 15 seconds and did a surprisingly good job. There was a time when I used to iron everything!
I must have been mad.
I am now trying to decide whether to get up or try yet again to doze off.

Morning GF and all.
The moon was big and bright last night, proper Harvest Moon.
I'll bring you a tea, GF, if you're stopping in bed
Glad you're happy with the steamer. I always imagined it would leave clothes feeling slightly damp, but I'm no doubt wrong about that.
Browsing around for nothing in particular, I found a smart toaster with buttons I can really relate to -

mothhawk, the clothes are slightly damp. You steam them while they're hanging on a hanger. I then just hung the hanger and shirt above a radiator for half an hour.
Can you press frozen and crumpet on the toaster?Last edited by greenishfing; 08-10-2025, 07:18 AM.

Morning
A dry sunny-ish day here so I'll be going for a stroll at some point also i need to buy more porridge.
That's a neat looking toaster MH but I'll be staying with my Dualit it does make lovely toasties.
No other plans here today I've started a new puzzle got the edges done and started on the roofs those pieces stood out the most.
Enjoy your day.

Morning!…lovely sunny day after a lot of heavy mist which has only just lifted.
Certainly a gardening day for me…I want to get more leaves into the compost then weed around out back door ready for a load of gravel to be spread around the raised stepping stones to the patio. It’s south facing so should be lovely and warm.
Hopefully we can cut the grass later - it’s grown about 4” in 10 days.
Thats a nice looking toaster MH!
We had trouble finding a red one to match the kettle and a few other pans etc. We got one in the end, but it doesn’t seem to be a very popular colour at the moment.
right…I best shake a leg and get outside…stuff to do as always….

I've just got back from taking Mr GF for his covid jab at a local rugby club. It was very well organised as usual, but incredibly slow. Why does anyone go for an injection wearing several layers of hard to remove clothing. We were organised. By the time they called his number I'd already freed his arm from his jumper and we didn't hang about.
I never did get any more sleep this morning.....
My toaster isn't posh, from Aldi, but it does have a setting for frozen items and it also has a glass side so that you can see when the toast is ready. I asked about using the frozen and crumpet setting at the same time as I stuck a couple of frozen crumpets in it the other day and when they seemed done on the outside the middle was still cold. I have solved this now though. I defrost them in the microwave first and then put them in either the toaster or the air fryer.
I've just turned the thermostat up as it is feeling chilly.

Good afternoon, again a wet dull day, just asked son to get me a board which I will put over the bed, OH twisted her back last week and she is now getting muscle spasms, so going to put a board on top of the mattress to see if that helps, wont be a problem for me as I could sleep on a bed made of concrete, so wood is a bit of luxury
, just as the sciatica was clearing up, she was preparing my breakfast when she turned the wrong way and put her back out, so my convalescing didnt even last 24 hrs, I'm just angry at my self for not thinking of this earlier, I would rather I had the pain than seeing her suffer, as for not being able to look after me, I wont mention it, any more than three or four times a day
GF I cant remember when I could get into a 34 waist it must have been just after I left school, I do remember my waistline was 36 for a good number of years, heavy work kept it at that for a long time, though OHs cooking did eventually overcome that, as for what it is now, well we will skip that
I have contacted a friend who repairs roofs to come and have a look at the conservatory roof, as he is extremely busy just now I have told him there is no rush, abd as I get my stitches out on Monday I may be able to do the repair myself, just need to make sure OH doesn't see me, I think I will now go and inspect the inside of the eyelids, just to make sure they close properly, enjoy the day and please pass on the smiles
