  • Good afternoon, cloudy with occasional light showers today, was up and out for half seven this morning as I was taking one of the grandsons to Ayr to sit his driving theory test, away early as the roads around Ayr is horrendous in the mornings , fortunately with the schools off on holiday the roads were not too bad as we were down with quarter of an hour to spare, once he was finished with the test, which he passed, I then had a twenty mile drive to take him to his work, and finaly getting back home at the back of twelve, now having a bite to eat before getting out to the garden, well if it stays dry. Meant to say the other day, when we came home from church on Sunday there was a swarm of honey bees hanging from one of my flower containers, fortunately one of my garden club members keeps bees, so contacted him and he came down to capture it, while he was collecting the one in my garden there was another swarm collecting on bush in my neighbours garden which he collected as well, it was fascinating to see how quickly the swarm collected on the bush, and its good to know that the bees will go into a new home where hopefully they will thrive, well as there is nothing on the telly that I am interested in, I am for out to the garden, have a good day and keep smiling

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

    • It seemed pretty vicious for a love nip Andraste ! I've just been rationalizing my potting bench which is leaning at a very precarious angle. My son made it for me out of scaffolding boards many, many years ago. I didn't realise just how many plant pots I have and there must be at least 50 flower buckets. Give away time

      • Sorry to hear that FF - I'm sure he'll forgive you soon. x Well done on your sort-out. I should do the same with pots too (Mum mentioned not having enough recently so maybe I can off-load onto her mmwwwaaahaha).

Congrats to your grandson on passing his test Rary & to you on your bees

        • Afternoon all.

Waves to CG and sighs with disappointment at missing the breakfast goodies.

FF, it's about time Lord Ginger realises he must start to pay the rent, and not be so ungrateful.

Congratulations to your GS, Rary, passing his theory test. What will you do with all the free time you're going to have when you no longer have to be a chauffeur?

Not done much today, a bit of tidying in the garden, but it got too hot for me so I had to retire to the cool of the house. I put a base coat of paint on the wall at the top of the stairs where I have stripped off the wallpaper. I shall never have wallpaper again, it came off easily enough, but pulled off patches of the original emulsion underneath too, so I had to sand it down. At my age I want to be able to change the decor easily, not have a 4 stage process before it's
done. Be prepared for me to moan some more when I get around to stripping the two bedrooms that still have paper on

I'm glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, Lottie, hope you're beginning to enjoy food again.

          • Afternoon everyone!
very long day here…. Still more to do but it’ll have to wait until it’s cooler.

GF…it looks like the roads will be shut for 3 hrs, so it looks like it’s not going to be too bad.

Rary!…that’s lovely news…well done that lad

Gosh Flo…that sounds a bit nasty…Hope he didn’t puncture you too badly? Bit offputting though

I think a long soak in the tub is calling me, then an early night.
Looks like a lovely evening to sit out too…typical

Enjoy your evening peeps- rain or heat…tis better than massive hailstones and flooding ….yikes!

                  • Mornin n’alln’all

Off out soon to go and see the Tour de France go through the local village ( blinking autocorrect insists there is an s on the end of Tour !)
One of the cyclists in the race lives in that village so it’s going to be quite a festive occasion. There’s even more bunting and old painted bicycles attached to fences….

Its warming up out there again so I best get my veggies watered before we go….

                    Enjoy your day peeps!

                    • Have a lovely day Nicos - something I'd love to see 'in the real'. We have quite a few local cycling clubs here & an annual bike race/festival lasting a few days with the different categories - nothing on the scale of the TdF of course but a surprising amount of competitors for a 'local' event & always a great day/days out

                        Enjoy your day.

                          • Bonjour tout le monde. Well, I thought I'd better opt in to the spirit. Hope you have a great time, Nicos.

Late on parade as we had the most monumental storm in the night that we were not prepared for. Looks like more on the way today, tomorrow and Saturday. Just as well the farmer up the valley got his crop in, though the hay is still hanging around in the fields.

Not much else to report. More of the same on the cards for me.

Hope Lord Ginger behaves better during his next visit, Flo. Especially after you treat him so well.

                            Have a great day everyone.

                            • Good morning all.

It's already in the 20s here and the curtains on the sunny side are pulled tight. I've got another grory hop arriving between 10am 11am. I had sneaked another 2 packs of the Biscoff ice cream lollies onto the list, but they are unavailable.

Yesterday I cut open a large melon that I'd recieved as a substitute in a grory hop over a week ago, I'd ordered a much smaller different variety. I got a refund for the price difference. It is absolutely perfect, sweet and juicy. We'll be having it with every meal for the next couple of days.

I'm obviously in a minority when it comes to road cycle races, marathons, etc. To me they are just so, so boring. Waiting hours for something that's over in seconds. I even found the TT races in the Isle of Man boring. The atmosphere and nightlife was good, and all that skin tight leather ... but the actual races. I guess that I am just not a good spectator.

I have found my shorts button. I'd put it in a very sensible safe place. They are cargo shorts with a multitude of pockets. There is a small zip pocket, ideal fo a cash card or some loose change. I'd fastened the button in there so that it wouldn't get lost. I found it when I was giving them a good shake and convincing myself that they really did not need ironing. I was quickly convinced. I'm not a masochist.

Enjoy the sunshine and don''t forget the sun cream.
