  • Morning all.

I've only ever had the camera down test, CG. My brother has had both up and down repeatedly. My impression from talking to him is the down one is by far easier to tolerate than the up one... Hope it goes OK.

As for Jack, I think it might have been the other way round, the smiles provoking him. He has been naughty from the moment he woke up. E got a bit fed up with him on the walk this morning, so I hope Jack isn't going to queer his pitch with him and his dog.

And as for me, lots to be getting on with, plus a bit of furniture re-arranging as Mr Snoop's riser-recliner will be delivered here this afternoon, along with an exercise bike for him. The chair should be easy to assemble, not sure about the bike...

    Have a great day, everyone.

      • Good morning, dry but a lot of cloud about, rain forecasted for mid day, last night went very well there were a couple of light showers but everyone managed to stay dry, I had a fire going with plenty of dry wood to burn and with the fire pot getting red hot everyone was kept warm, not much gardening discussed, just a night for a right good blether, wont be doing much today as OH is very sore from the sciatica, I might get my onions strung up, then again I might not, will see how energetic I feel, actually on thinking on it I,will see if OH has an old pair of tights that I can use for the onions, no on second thoughts I wont mention old as I would be told thats all I've got OLD tights, you will of course no what wives are like, every cut and turn to let you know what they are have is old even if its only a week or so out the shops . Enjoy the day and remember to pass on some of those smiles
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

          • Good morning all.

Not a brilliant night's sleep. I was awake at 3am for a couple of hours, and again at 7am.

I was thinking about a birthday present for one of my sisters partners. I can't really call him my brother in law as, despite the fact they've been together for over 30 years, and have a daughter in her mid twenties, they've never got married. I usually make him some "birthday puddings". Chr***mas puddings, but in September. I better check if I've got everything that I need. Before I know it, it will be time to make some for my brother in Australia, if I don't want to pay airmail prices.

CG, you must be so relieved about the scan. Mr GF has had the camera both up and down on several occasions. They have never found anything serious, and as he's got older his digestive system is one bit of him that still works quite well.

The sun is shining at the moment but we have a 94% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Mmmmm!

CG, I think a few of the riser/recliner companies have showrooms where you can try them out, and some will even unpack them and put them together for you when they arrive (for a fee).

Nicos, I always thought that gyms ought to have generators fitted to all their equipment.

            • Good morning all..we had lots of rain overnight and more to come.
CG, glad to hear nothing serious going on, the camera down is a little uncomfortable but bearable
Nicos, that was a quick season, how fast the time passes.
Snoop, Jack is like a toddler....pushing the boundaries.
Rary, glad you had an enjoyable night even if it was just blethering.
Looks like the weather will be keeping me indoors today so it will be domestics
Enjoy the day and catch those smiles as they pass by.

Have you had an endoscopy before? These things are always worrying the first time. There should be some kind of anaesthetic, for most people a local spray. It's an odd feeling as the camera goes down your throat, but if you relax enough, you shouldn't have much of a gag reflex. That first part is the worst of it and the biopsy shouldn't be painful. As bramble says, a little uncomfortable at first but bearable.

As for the chair, I bought it online. I went to our nearest disability aids shop, but none on display. I was shown a catalogue and told I could have a phone consultation with a rep. But they were considerably more expensive than ones I'd seen online and if anything looked less comfortable (most had plasticky fabric, thin extending footrests, no arm cushions, that kind of thing). But in a fair-sized city in the UK, you should find at least one disability aids shop with a number on display. My mum went to a showroom with one of her carers who knew about these things and was properly measured for hers. As GF says, the shop sent someone round to assemble it.

And as for Jack, bramble, you're absolutely right. Definitely trying it on to see what he can get away with.

                  • Snoop Puss no but my brother has. I've had a camera up my nose and round my sinuses.
Be fine, likely had worse with the lines going in for dialysis.

I will have a look locally seat wise see if anywhere has some to look at so I can take her.

It's just started raining so had to call it a day outside. Had Bobsie Robin (and the dog) for company .
Mmm malt bread I've not had that for years, I need to stop eating biscuits 🙄coffee kitkat are a current favourite.

                    Might watch sewing bee now.

Ditto on the sinuses camera. I dislike that more than endoscopy, to give you a reference.

Malt loaf... I might see if I can make one or two this weekend. Haven't had that for years.

                      • I've just mixed a banana loaf and when I was putting the mixture into the tin, I noticed that the butter has not creamed in! It couldn't have been soft enough. It will be interesting to see how it turns out

                            • We had a few light showers this afternoon and a stunning rainbow.
                              Sun is out again now.

We had sun and showers yesterday afternoon, looks like the same for the rest of the week.
Should really go shopping today but can't really be bothered, will probably need to drop mum's off too.
Not sure if I will get out in the garden today.

I've boiled the kettle if anyone is up yet.
