  • Mornin n’alln’all

GF…sorry about that, but much appreciated as I managed to get 7hrs very much needed sleep .

We’ve woken to very heavy sploshy stuff and pretty dark. I thought we were just in for a few showers and thunder on and off during the day. Looks like there will be no gardening done today. Always loads of domestics to get on with of course!

Cluedo is the one and only game I really enjoyed, even now.
Battleships chez moi was drawn on paper and I was always ready to play that too as a child. My parents had a tiny caravan when I was a kid and many a wet weekend was spent sheltering inside it
Would you believe it had gas wall lights? Probably one of the reasons I love having and smelling a bottled gas cooker hob .

So…it looks like I’m first in the kitchen?..anyone fancy a brew then?
Mugs only I’m afraid….sorry about that Flo.

I’m pretty sure I spotted the smiles fluttering around in our massive wild cherry tree…Whatever it was, there are plenty of leaves on the lawn now

    Enjoy your day peeps

Over the years our children's toys/books were passed to our grandkids who now have bought them back to store We seem to be the custodians of a large amount of Brio, lego, books etc

Nothing exciting just a chocolate roll from Poundland, but they do remind me of those Christmas logs only much much smaller.

      Hair cut this morning

      • Well I timed that walk well, it started raining on arriving home. Also filled some carrier bags with comfrey which grows around about.

Any green tea Nicos ? Mug would be perfect.

        Enjoy your hair pampering Bren.

        • Morning all.

Walk with E and his dog this morning has absolutely wiped Jack out. Me too, but I've got loads to do before I can claim it's nap time. Nope, just woken up from falling asleep at the keyboard. No time for that. Better get a move on.

Catch you all later. Have a great day meanwhile.

Oh, before I forget. Our family board games were Cluedo, Monopoly and Ludo. We once kept half a campsite awake while playing Ludo.

          • Morning all.

Thick cloud cover today and cooler. Had a tiny sprinkle of rain yesterday, so perhaps it will rain today, met says 70% chance around teatime, but the beeb reckon only a 45% chance. That will be none then in all likelihood

I thought the washing machine was broken this morning, as it didn't complete the final spin cycle and everything was still soggy, but I hauled out a bath towel and tried it again. Turns out it was just unbalanced and so refusing to spin, so all good.

Ooh just heard post through the door...it's my seeds! Tomato Latah, a very short season tom, so hopefullyy should ripen outdoors for me before September, and breadseed poppy After Midnight, which is a gloriously dark purple, almost black.

Malt loaf? Always eaten bare, in thick chunks rather than thin slices. Not had any for years.

              • Good morning, a light rain at present and the for is for rain all day, so wont be doing much outside, unless of course OH mentions cleaning out cupboards,if that happens I have a bit of work to do in the garage, just seeing the names of some of the old games brings back memories, oh happy times OH still plays frustration, with me anyway, it usually starts with " I think we should" the we is ofcourse me, or "you better not make a mess" or " what do you think your doing" when she is standing looking at me, the one that really gets me " dont even think about it" when I haven't said or done anything, though OH always says she can read me like a book, my answer "at least you have got something interesting to read" then go away frustrated
Have a good day whatever the weather and try ab andd pass on some smiles
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                  • Good Morning All Cloudy here. My outlaws caravan was in Chapel-St-Leonard's and had a coal fire as well as gas lamps Nicos! Snakes and Ladders was a favourite of ours and Scrabble still is.

                      • Good morning all, it's dry and sunny but a very unsettled sky.
Off to visit the physio this morning, I think this will be my last visit as my leg is just better.
Games in our house were scrabble, monopoly, cludo, snakes and ladders and ludo when the kids were younger.
We played trivial persuit with a citcle of friends and took turns in hosting it.
Grandson is now into draughts and junior monopoly.
Bren, like you, all the toys are returned to me and stored in the attic, my kids making the excuse of lack of space.
Snoop, hope you get your 40 winks....have a good day all.

You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                        • Good morning again.

A much more civilised hour now.

As a small child I remember playing snap, happy families, ludo, snakes and ladders, and draughts with my grandma (the same one who attempted to teach me to knit, sew, crochet, embroider and tat. She, eventually, gave up, in the main, as my left-handedness got the better of her.) I did used to help her with her readicut rugs however. We had a monopoly board at home but never finished a game as my sister, a bad loser, used to always end up tipping the board up.

Nicos, I also remember my dad towing a little caravan to Cornwall on holiday. It had gas lights too. Mind you the house that I lived in until I was about two or three had no electricity or mains gas. My grandad had a coal/coke fire in his large greenhouse and he and I used to curl up together in the rocking chair that he had beside it and listen to the radio.

We also played a lot of dominoes - my mum also took great delight in tipping the table up if she was losing - my children still smile at that memory

No, no, CG. For once I'm actually planning ahead. The seeds are for next year and I wanted to be sure I could get some. So often in Spring I decide I'd like to grow a particular variety of something, only to find everywhere sold out.

Right, I've a pile of books to return to the library, and I need some sanding sheets for the sander, so I'd best get off out.
