    • Good morning all, very breezy but its dry.
The same old routine, off to mass and grsndson will come for lunch.
Deadheading the flowers, the strong breeze is whipping the petsls off them.
Not a lot else to report...have a lovely day.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

      • Morning all

Had a good downpour here so the garden is fairly happy. I went for a walk earlier around the forest park that's about 30 minutes away by car. It has several small lakes, and I was amazed to see multiple dozens (could well have been hundreds) of tiny froglets hopping from the lakes into the long grass and trees on the other side across the hardcore paths. I was glad it had been raining hard and was still drizzling because that meant there were only a few other walkers. I was hard pressed not to step on any of the tiny things and no doubt a lot of other folk wouldn't care at all with their bikes and pushchairs and earbuds. They were so tiny, less than 1cm most of them, and some could have been toads as they were walking rather than hopping.

        • Afternoon!

How lovely seeing the little froglets MH!
I’ve only ever seen that once and that was at Centre Parks. Can’t help but grin at the memory.

We’ve been to a couple of small vide greniers but over 3/4 of the stall places were empty and many of the others were packing up. Just too much rain. Pity , after all this sunshine too….

I did buy a fantastic cast iron tripod/trivet used to support pans and casseroles over open fires. From the thickness of it , it’s clearly a pretty old one. Only €4 …so that’ll be perfect to put in my borders to allow tall plants to grow through so they won’t collapse.
Also a tiny bottle/ vase which is perfect for 4or 5 sweet peas or nasturtium flowers where the stems are too short to reach the water in a standard small vase.
We were thinking of maybe having sausage on a baguette with chips there… the smell wafting over the field was more than enticing…but we managed to resist seeing as we had supper ready at home. Next weekend maybe

          • Thanks for the link to your latest vid DGV. Was your seed compost wetter than it looked? I genuinely went when you only gave them a quick spritz as it looked quite dry lol. If not I'm seriously over wetting my sowings & need to take note

              • Morning all.

What an amazing sight, mothhawk. And great finds, Nicos.

Supposedly going to be cooler today, but you wouldn't know it from the hot sunshine!

On the cards for me today, as much work as I can get through before taking Jack to the vet for his second round of jabs. He's still not allowed to go in on his own four feet, apparently, so we'll have to carry him in. For a two-month-old dog, he's quite a size already... Supposedly we're meeting his sister there, but I don't fancy holding him up off the floor for long as he'll be wriggling and excited.

Right, better set to on the work front.

                Have a great day, everyone.

                • Good morning all.

Your trivet sounds wonderful, Nicos. I have vague memories of visiting one of the many great aunts as a child. She had a fireplace with several trivets that were attached to the sides and could be swung around over the fire with the help of a poker. They used to fascinate me. I used to love a roaring coal fire. Me and our Alsation used to curl up together on the hearthrug in front of it.

My Achilles heel, at outdoor events, is the smell of frying onions. I can not resist. I'm like one of the "Bisto kids" tracking down the source.

The sun has just put in an appearance and is warming my bare feet. Yesterday was drizzly all day with the occasional heavy downpour.

I think more coffee is in order.

                    A dry breezy day here.

Snoop good luck at the vets with Jack holding a wriggly excited puppy isn't easy.

Our first flat had a Yorkshire range it just looked rather old-fashioned but was soon useful it was handy for stews, rice pudding and toast using a long handled fork.

                    enjoy you day

                    • Good morning all, it's bright and very breezy here.
Domestics, and a grory hop this morning.
I have an appointment with a physio this afternoon so fingers crossed.

Snoop, I hope you haven't got to carry Jack for long, he will want to get down to play.

                      Have a good day all.

                      • Snoop, I think you should buy Jack some roller skates and pull him along. Seriously though, is this the last time that he has to be carried in? Heaven help you if he's any bigger.

                        • Afternoon n’alln’all

Bit late on here, but an early start…medical appointment, then a grory hop.
Hope you get on OK Bramble at physio!

Snoop!…I was just thinking… …I wonder how much weight Jack has put on since you got him presumably the vet has now said long after these injections until he can walk on the ground?
Hope he’s OK in the car in this heat!

Here?…well it’s rained more on than off all night and day. Finally the ground is getting a good soaking!

                          • Afternoon all.

I don't know what he weighed when we picked him up just over two weeks ago. At four weeks he weighed 4.5 kg apparently, and everyone was shocked at his weight. He's now nine weeks old and weighs 9.7 kg. One of his sisters weighs 6 kg and his other siblings weigh less. He's not at all fat, just very tall. The vet reckons he'll be 25 kg fully grown. She thought this might be a problem for us, but seeing as our last dogs were between 33 and 45 kg, he's on the lightweight size for us. There's been some discussion among friends as to whether he might actually be a doberman, but the vet insists not. Which is good as far as I'm concerned. Don't want a dog other people are scared of.

That said, he's a bit free and easy with his teeth, which bothers me, but today we met up with his foster family and it became obvious why he is the way he is. The mum kept repeatedly waving her hand about really vigorously no more than an inch from his mouth and he was scared and so kept trying to bite it. Clearly he's frightened of hands. I've actually thought about sending him back to the pound, but he really is a lovely dog other than this. Having seen the foster mum's behaviour, we hope we'll be able to get him to stop. What a stupid thing to do! Jack was really glad to see his sister and the kids, though.

He's still got two more jabs to go at three week intervals. As we live in the sticks, the vet said we could take him out on a lead but to keep him away from foxes and scat, just in case. What a relief for all of us to be able to go out properly. No idea how people who live in flats manage (to put this in perspective, 65% of the Spanish population live in flats).

Anyway, no idea what we'll do in three and then six weeks time. No way/weigh will we be able to carry him from the car into the clinic.

And that's the end of the Jack news broadcast.

                            • Glad the vet visit went well.
Just a thought - have you thought of doing a DNA test on Jack?
My DIL did one on her rescue dog and it was really interesting.
I think they cost around £100?
Did his sister look similar or completely different?
That might allay the concern of your friends and neighbours?

The rain has finally stopped here, so no watering tonight which will make a lovely change tbh.

I’ve frozen some red currant juice. Having ate a pile of them yesterday OH and I agreed that we like the flavour but not all the seeds!
At least that takes up less space in the freezer

Waving hands in front of a puppy is bound to be disturbing for him, like you say you Snoop hopefully you'll be able to alter his bite behaviour.
