Good morning all, bright and sunny here with a strong breeze.
Domestics and a tri0 to the librarybanf then an afternoon in the garden.
Have a good day all.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Good morning all.
I didn't sleep much last night at all but at least I got a lie in until about 9.30am. It was the thought of coffee that dragged me out of bed then.
For the first time ever I bought some lambs lettuce in my grory hop this week. I have had umpteen goes at growing it over the years and have never had a single seedling germinate. I chopped it finely and mixed it with finely chopped tomato, spring onion, olives, grated parmesan and carrot. I made an oil and vinegar dressing and tossed the salad in it. Without a lot of hope I put some on Mr GF's plate. He usually only likes salad if it's got lots of mayonnaise with it. He ate the lot!
It's 18°C and overcast at the moment with a forecast high of 21 or 22°C later. However temperatures are forecast to sneak back up to 30°C again by Friday.
I think I'll make more coffee and put Mr GF a croissant in the air fryer.

Good to hear Mr GF enjoyed the lambs lettuce.
One thing I’ve never seen here is watercress. Funny how you really want something when it’s not available

Good evening, everyone mentioning the hot weather, over the past week,, evidently they haven't been in my area, cool and wet for most of the week, and saying wet is mild, torrential downpours yesterday and overnight, had set up my water butts got them filled but then decided to change the use of three of them one to store fresh compost, and switch other two, using the larger one to store used compost, I had been using the smaller drum for this, which will now be used to store burn sand (grit) making thees changes meant I had to empty the water out two of them, I got them set up yesterday and today both are overflowing, I have also been making up some flower containers and baskets, all I need now is some decent weather for them to get the chance to bloom
I have been moving some concrete slabs, unfortunately one unfortunately slud in the mud and landed on my shin bone scrapping some skin off my leg, gave the leg a quick wash with vinigar and carried on with my work, no problems wirh this untill OH saw it and oh boy you would have thought I was one of the grandchidren( instead of being her Lord abd mastef) the way she was getting on at me, ofcourse her first thought was I had been up a ladder, then a lecture of needing to be careful as I am on blood thinning tablets, Nicos going up ladders is not a problem, actually falling off them isn't one either, the problems start with the sudden stop, enjoy the evening Folks and keep smiling but most importantly, pass them on

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Good evening all.
Rary, youre a daredevil, tapk about living dangerously.....
Talking about water butts, one of mine was nearly empty, the wind blew it away to the bottom 9f the garden despite being attached to the greenhouse down pipe...Obviously we didnt have the rain Rary had but the gusts of wind made up for it.
Anyway, sll reconnected now and waiting for the next downpour to fill it up again.
Have a good evening all.

Morning all.
Been up for a bit, playing with Jack. Looks like I've worn him out. Shame I can't just conk out like he has, but there are things to do today.
Got a friend coming for lunch and I haven't even decided properly what we're going to have.
There are cans of confit d canard in the basement, so I imagine one of those. And there are potatoes, so I imagine some of those. And then there are assorted bits of veg, so some of those too. But it all seems a bit vague. Anyway, doubtless I'll come up with something. Pudding I do know: the chocolate brownies with cherries in amaretto that I've been threatening to make for a while but still haven't.
Right, thanks for listening to that while I sorted it out in my head.
And a special message for Rary: no more accidents for at least a week if you can manage it. My shins hurt in sympathy with yours just reading that. Ouch, ouch, ouch. And another ouch for the vinegar.
Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning all.
It's not actually raining here at the moment but everything is wet and we have showers in the vicinity for the next couple of hours, and then again this evening.
I've had a very disrupted night's sleep and am not in the best of moods this morning.
My sister got her replacement bouquet delivered yesterday. It looks much better than the half dead original she received for her birthday. Being a cynic, I wonder how many times inferior flowers are delivered when they are not being delivered to the buyers address and are obviously a present. I wonder how many times the recipient then doesn't tell the purchaser that they have received a sub-standard product. It certainly has put me off ordering from them in the future.
My other sister only buys from upmarket shops. She wouldn't be seen dead in a budget supermarket. It made me smile one year when we were going to her house for her birthday party. Just before we left home she rang me to ask if I had any salad leaves or strawberries as she was a bit short. As it happened I had a big bowl of strawberries, and a large bag of assorted salad leaves that I'd just washed, both picked at the allotment that morning. I think I grabbed some just picked tomatoes and cucumber too.
When we arrived her face was a picture, think Mrs Bucket, when she saw the difference between my lettuce and the "posh" shop's sad looking leaves.
(Yes, it was the same company that I ordered the flowers from.) I'm obviously a slow learner.
Time for more coffee now.

Mornin n’alln’all
A very late start for me…must have been more tired than I’d realised! The cool night just have helped too
Rary…ouchy ouch….how is that shin today? Bet you’ve got some impressive bruising?
Your poor wife will be going grey soon with all your antics…
A quiet day for me. There are two village fairs going on today locally so I may go and visit both briefly. One has a bide grenier going on at the same time so there’s a chance of some spare plants up for grabs ( not free but very reasonably priced)
There is a pile of ironing sat staring at me but I’m getting pretty good now at averting my eyes…te he.
Enjoy your day peeps…
And remember to share those lovely smiles of yours….Last edited by Nicos; 06-07-2025, 08:28 AM."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Morning all, weather has changed massively since the sun of a few weeks back as it’s been windy and wet for a good few days. Was hoping to do my next YouTube update outside but ended up creating a “what I am sowing for the winter months” to fill up some empty places in the garden once I remove the last of the peas and runner beans. Take a look if it’s of any interest and also adding short version onto TikTok (these are two places I never thought I would be sharing and using……) if anyone else does this would be great to hear as any hits and tips would be appreciated.3 Photos
