  • Morning all.

Sorry to hear about all the crocked folk. Hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

Busy, busy day here. More friends visiting, helping out with jobs. More blessings to count! I'd better go and show willing and help.

    Catch you all later.

    Have a great day, everyone.

      • The lovely district nurse who gave Mr GF his vitamin B12 injection has visited and applied some dressings to Mr GF's new pressure sores. She's coming back on Tuesday and arranging for a pressure air mattress type thing for his recliner to be delivered as that is where he spends most of his time.

A doctor has also visited now. Not one I've ever met before but quite nice. All his vital signs are fine.

I've also set up NHS accounts for us both so that we can order our prescriptions online, hopefully.

          • I forgot to mention the doctor was quite concerned about a mark on Mr GF's chest. What was it? ..........I realised immediately. Chocolate from the coating on his ice cream lolly which had dropped off, fallen inside his shirt and melted. A quick wipe .... gone.

            • Sorry to hear Mr GF has been so under the weather. Fingers crossed the mattress make a difference. Pressure sores are dreadful things. So painful. So easy to develop and so difficult to heal.

Sending you both big hugs, GF.

              • Aaaarrrggghhhh!!!!! Despite all my best efforts, Mr GF fell this evening as I was helping him to the bathroom. His legs just sort of gave way. At least he didn't hurt himself. It was a slow slide to the ground. I had to call an ambulance as he was wailing, swearing and carrying on irrationally, and obviously couldn't get up. He was not making a lot of sense. Although he was not in a life-threatening state, maybe the moaning and wailing in the background of my call encouraged the operator to send the ambulance quickly, as it was here in no time at all.

He really has been deteriorating in the last couple of days. Hence, I was calling out the doctor this morning. I don't think I 've had more than 3 consecutive hours of sleep in the last few days. The ambulance crew has taken him to A & E. It took all three to get him up and into a chair. They convinced me to stay at home and try and get some sleep (I presume I look like the walking dead) as he seems to be in a different reality at the moment. I really don't know if I've done the right thing. I doubt if I can sleep.

The awful thing is that when I took him to the doctors three months and two days ago the doctor described him as very frail and did say, in the kindest possible way, that it wouldn't surprise him if he died in the next 3 to 6 months. This is a doctor who has known us both for over two decades and who saved his life by his prompt action on one occasion a decade or so ago. I am just hoping that Mr GF can rally yet again. At the moment I think that I am a gibbering wreck inside too.

At times like these, I wish I could get my hands on a valium to help me relax and sleep. In Beirut, if you asked for something "for the bombs" at the chemist's, you got a pack of earplugs and a packet of valium I think I'll just try a glass of wine to soothe my nerves. It's a pity my late little brother, who at one time had a plantation of "naughty" plants, which I discovered by accident, or should I say by my bloodhound nose, isn’t still around.

Sorry to have such a long, meandering rant.

                  • Oh greenishfing, I am so sorry to hear about Mr GF. Is there any chance it might be a urinary infection? My mother-in-law (93 going on 94) was moved to the dementia floor in her nursing home because the staff decided that her behaviour had deteriorated. After two or three days, she got worse and they took her to hospital by ambulance only for a urinary tract infection to be revealed. They said that was the cause of all her shenanigans. Once they treated that properly, she recovered and we insisted she be moved back to her room. Hopefully the hospital will be able to stabilise Mr GF so he can come home. In the meantime, please look after yourself and get some sleep if you can. Thinking of you at this worrying time.

Nicos I'm having a nice mug of tea in my new (large) Winnie the Pooh mug that I got from a charity shop for the grand sum of one pound today. I hope your OH feels better soon. It's not nice reacting to a jab like that. I was completely wiped out by my first dose of Covid in spring 2021 so I'm in no hurry to repeat the experience but sadly I'm not eligible for the jab this year, due to much tighter requirements. 18 years is a long time to have unopened moving boxes! We moved in autumn 2023 and almost all my books are packed away securely, sealed in plastic bin bags in large cardboard boxes. But they are in a large shipping container currently living at the bottom of the garden in our bungalow which is going to be knocked down. The parkin recipe book could well be in there. So, once all the site fencing etc goes in next week, we won't be able to even GET to the container. I'm hoping to see them again sometime in autumn/winter 2026, that being the third move of the sequence which will see us take up residence in our (hopefully!) forever home. But three moves in three years is is not my idea of fun

mothhawk I hope you're feeling better now after your dentist visit. That tooth sounds to have been quite challenging!

We had our flu jabs this morning and were surprised at how busy the pharmacy was. They said they'd already done 110 jabs before 11.30 so they must have been working non-stop. The waiting room was pretty busy and they had two nurses working flat out. Hubby says he can't feel the site of his jab but mine is a bit tender. How long does it take for a flu jab to become protective, I wonder? Apparently flu and Covid are both on the rise here in the UK.

Hubby cooked some delicious rainbow trout for dinner with boiled potatoes and cauliflower. I'm such a lucky lady He's gone out playing table tennis with his team this evening and he's doing the driving, fortunately only about half an hour there and back. He's not back yet so I hope they did well.

I've just realised that most folk in this thread are here early in the morning, sometimes very early. So I'm a bit of a night owl among the larks

                    • Te he….Night owls and larks all welcome….insomniacs too…

Armorel- you really are going through a hectic few years… but no doubt it’ll be worth it!

Our pharmacist said 2 weeks for both Covid and flu to be fully effective.
Flu has really taken off locally, and I believe it’s similar in the uk too?

                        • Morning all.

Lots of love and hugs, GF. I hope Mr GF perks up and is home again soon. Do take care of yourself and try and rest while you can. It must be such a worry for you.

It's beginning to get light here, sunrise, I see, is 7.36am and the sky is under a woolly grey blanket. No rain predicted for today though so I'd better make the most of it before the expected day-long wet tomorrow. No ill effects from the tooth pulling except a very slight tenderness in the gum where it came out. One of the blessings of a lady dentist with small hands.

Many positive vibes heading your way GF x

MH…that’s good news. I recall getting a piece of mincemeat caught in a tooth extraction hole when I was a kid no doubt they pack them or do something different these days?

Rain forecast for here too tomorrow. OH was woken up much more perky so hopefully he’ll manage pottering outside…
Apart from gardening, nothing else really planned for today.

How did your OH get on yesterday Armorel?

Have a lovely day peeps…well, as best you can….and do remember to share those lovely smiles of yours…. X

                              • Morning all.

We've got our Italian friend coming for pizza for lunch today. I've only just made the dough... Might be pizza for afternoon tea! So long as there are pizza at some time, I'm sure I'll be forgiven. I have no idea where the hours go.

Good news about your mouth, MH. Never thought about the benefits of a lady dentist, but that makes sense.

And good news about Mr Nicos. Fingers crossed for good news about Mr GF.

Right, better get my skates on.

                                Have a great day, everyone.
