  • Good afternoon all.
We went clothes shopping for my hubby.
Today is his birthday a d he said he wanted to update his wardrobe.
We got most of what he wanted.
Ended up in a bookstore and 3 jigsaws jumped into my basket.
basket. One was reduced to half price and the other offer was two for the price of one, that's my wintei passtime sorted
We have a beautiful sunny day here so back out to the garden now
    Have a good evening all..

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

    • Best wishes to Mr bramble on his birthday. And well done on getting most of what he wanted.

I regard that as very brave, you know, going clothes shopping on his birthday. Buying clothes is one of my least favourite activities.

And well done you, bramble, for having the strength of will to buy jigsaws and then put them away for months...

And Nicos, what kind of paint is it? The kind they use on rockets? It's got to be some fancy hi-tech stuff at that price.

      • Well, that 40 winks ended up being 4 hrs…
( must be the shock of the cost of that paint!)
Bet I can’t get to sleep tonight now though

Upon waking up, the weather has completely changed again..so much so that OH has lit the fire. I didn’t sleep through summer did I
Glad someone is enjoying it Jay!…more than happy for you to have it tbh.

Thats a really good bargain on those jigsaws Bramble.
Many Happies to your OH today….have you planned anything for this evening?

Talking of deliveries… I ordered a small iron and felt ironing pad for my crafting, plus a couple of thermal blackout curtains to be cut up for several small windows. The iron arrived yesterday, and the pad was due tomorrow- but they tried to deliver that today when we were out. So…another attempt tomorrow, hopefully with the curtains. Guess what a I will be doing when not gardening?
Better than being bored I guess!

            • Bren, I have grown them a few times. I only really had good results once, a particularly warm summer. I bought slips originally from a large seed company. The ones in the supermarket aren't generally a variety suited to our climate and have been sprayed with something to inhibit growth.

              • Yes, Nicos, ameno has posted a lot about sweet potatoes. Here's a short but informative thread:

                  • Morning all.

A very dull start to the day and it's supposed to be sunny. Was thinking of starting to plant out my tender plants today and sow some French beans. Will wait to see how it goes. The forecast is for more days with very light drizzle starting in a day or so, but warmer nights at long last. Even the daytime temperatures aren't that warm, still.

On the cards other than that, the usual work. But no dire stuff that has me pulling out my hair. So that is plus.

                    Have a great day, everyone.

Thanks for posting ameno‘s link Snoop do remember reading this but at the time I wasn’t interested in growing them. Sweet potatoes are a quick lunch time meal.

                        • Good morning.

I had a peek in here around 4 a.m., but everyone seemed to be asleep, so I tiptoed out again. I eventually dropped back to sleep and didn't get up until 9.30 am. I feel so much better. The weather seems to be reflecting my mood, too. Glorious sunshine and a blue sky. 0% chance of rain. The washer can do some work next.

I need to to do lots of little jobs today that I've been putting off while the car was sickly as once I'd jump started it I didn't want to stop the engine again again or leave Mr GF in it with the engine running and keys in!

I also need to call and see my brother in law later and take him a few items.

Bramble, the reason that I hate putting things somewhere safe for a few months is that I tend to forget where I've put them, especially birthday presents that I've bought in advance.

                          Have a great day everybody.

I have had a busy week so I am pleased to say I have no need to go further than the garden today.

GF, I know what you mean about putting things away safely,,,usually never to be found when needed.
Good to hear you're back on the road again.
Have a good day all and enjoy the sunshine.

                              I had a brill night’s sleep!..makes a wonderful change.

Very dull start here but suddenly warming up now the sun is shining.

Thanks for the link to ameno’s thread Snoop…much appreciated!

More weeding of the gravel today. I can’t believe the amount we have this year. Partly due to being too wet/ cold/ windy in the Autumn to get on top of it. OH absolutely hates doing this..he’s happy attacking dandelions with a pick axe but that leaves everything else half buried/ hidden so it comes back within days. I get the roots. Almost nothing escapes my beady eyes te he

                              Enjoy your day peeps
and enjoy your Indian food tonight Bramble!..mmm…most envious!

                              • Afternoon all, sunny here also,in fact is quite warm, have altered a sun dress been through my fabric stash for a blend with colour,it now looks great, and fits better,it was a baisic one with a elastic shereing top,i have put a bit on,and the top is not deep enough for my comfort,so i have added some plain fabric on the top to extent it,and put another frill on the bottom,i am reasonable happy with it.got another to shorten, and i can still get in my bathing suit so a bonus,if i get chance to wear it,only 2 more sleeps to go,can you tell i am a bit excited yet ,have a lovely afternoon everyone, for me back to the iron
