It's looking like fish fingers and chips today with peas and bread and butter and a lolly of some kind after.

We found a small beef and walnut casserole in the freezer from last year- so we’ll have that with broccoli and our baby new potatoes.
Cheesecake for pud.
GF…I used to make about 20 ratatouille per year in 1 litre Le Parfait jars when we first came here. Some curried, some with red wine… and actually ended up getting sick of them!
Yes, they soup up nicely…adding croutons, fine pasta, blobs of yog/ thick cream/ Greek yog/ gnocchi or grated cheese…anything to make them taste a bit different!Last edited by Nicos; 16-07-2025, 11:02 AM."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Yesterday I made a big pan of ratatouille. There's lots left. Today I'm going to add some homemade chicken stock and zap it with the stick blender, hopefully turning it into a sort of enhanced tomato soup. We'll have it with bread and butter and a generous sprinkle of parmesan.
Maybe melon for dessert, but more likely Häagen-Dazs ice cream.

GF…I was just remembering that we also used to liquidise the ratatouille into a thick paste then roll pasta into it, served with Parmesan cheese. Add a few bits of chopped lardons to it too if you fancy"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

All the ratatouille variations sound wonderful, Nicos. I'll have to find some little pasta shapes that Mr GF won't realise are related to "string".

In Summer I love anything with any combination of tomatoes and garlic, and/or aubergines, onions, peppers and courgettes. Cheese is an extra bonus. Hard to believe now that aubergines, peppers, courgettes and garlic were unknown to me as a child.

The soup was really nice last night. We ended up having strawberries for dessert. They looked gorgeous and somehow jumped into my hands while I was shopping for a newspaper for Mr GF.
Today smoked dry cured bacon and mushrooms in a creamy sauce on garlic bread with a side salad.
Melon.
