  • Crespelle - Italian stuffed pancakes.

    Comment

    • I'm making chicken and vegetable soup to have at some point today with fresh bread. Also pancakes with lemon and/or orange and sugar to have around teatime. I just hope I can remember how to flip them. The one year, in the dim and distant past, I attempted to do it with a cast iron pan I nearly broke my wrist!!

      • I don't flip but turn using a spatula. Altogether safer. The dogs would end up with far too many if I tried tossing them.

Maybe we could have something like Scotch pancakes for afternoon tea. Thanks for the idea, GF.

          • In the end, I decided all that cheese and bechamel in crespelle weren't a good idea after all the rich food we've been eating recently. So all change: courgette 'pancakes' (more like patties, but nobody questioned them) with a leek, pea and broad bean concoction (held together with some cream, so not entirely virtuous) on the side.

Broccoli and blue cheese soup for supper today.

                • Defrosting a cheese and onion pie I made earlier. Maybe with baked beans, or lentils in a spicy tomato sauce.

                      • Bacon, eggs, tomatoes, maybe sausage and definitely fried bread. 🤫🤫(Sssshhhhh! The diet police may be listening).

                        • Was going to be steamed veg and fish, but something with a bit more substance required, as it's perishing cold and miserable out. Yes, it's warm indoors with the fire going but I can still look out the window and be influenced by what I see there. And as it looks like the diet police are round at GF's today, a very carby lentil soup with all kinds of carby additions (potatoes, carrots, oh, and bacon).

As the diet police are around, I’ll leave out the dumplings
