  • Morning all.

Good to hear your wife is improving, rary. Hope the bed proves a success. And watch out for that toe... Still sounds grim. Not spreading doesn't sound like much of an improvement.

I'm in a similar position, GF. I used to be an avid reader but lost the taste for it when my mum got ill. I keep buying books on friends' recommendations but just can't get into them. Either so serious they're depressing, or so trivial it doesn't seem worth spending the time on them. I really must make more of an effort.

Weather looks like it should be bright today, but heavy rain forecast for next week. Must get a lot of jobs done this weekend beforehand.

And must get a lot done today. Off to a nearby town to the post office and the shops, work and billing. Supposedly got lunch with M here today but might see if I can put it off till this evening.

    Have a great day, everyone.

    • Morning, off on our travels down south for Fakemas on Saturday. Granddaughter is so excited to be having two Christmas days!!
Rary I feel for you with that toe. I’m on the same antibiotics as you…second course and they are not working. When I get back I have to call the podiatrist and see what they can do! Glad to hear Mrs. Rary is feeling better.
Well, will give you all a wave as I go down the M6 and back home via the M1.
      Enjoy your day folks. x

        • Good Morning All Raining here. Glad to hear Mrs rary is improving and I hope your toe joins in rary. Himself lost his love of reading a few years ago, but he refused to get rid of the many, many books he has, mostly sports autobiographies. I hope your toe gets better soon Jay, enjoy your Fakemas. I'm glad I got another Jan Van jigsaw Bren, it's a challenge. Righr, time to decorate the tree. Have a good day

          • Good morning all, it's a bright and sunny morning with temp at 7 degs.
Rary, it's good to hear an improvement in Mrs Rarys health, hope the same will go for you.
I am an avid reader and would be lost without the library.
Jay, have a great weekend and enjoy the time with your grandaughter.
            More decorating here today,
            Have a good day all.

              • Mornin n’alln’all…only just though
I think I’m sleeping for Britain at the moment Better than not sleeping maybe?

Thanks for your kind thoughts about Hibou. She’s really rallying around…steroid tablets and an appetite stimulator gel applied to the inside of her ear are certainly kicking in. Good to see her asking to go out and demanding food again. Well worth every penny ( centime) spent on her. It won’t take the cancer away but her quality of life has now rocketed…yippee .
                Another vet check on Monday.

Enjoy your holiday festivities Jay- I can already see the grin of excitement on your granddaughter’s face from here

And everyone else- enjoy your weekend. I’m hoping to get some holly and mistletoe cut today. It really enhances the decorations…

                • Good morning all.

Grey and drizzly here at the moment, although we have sunshine and cloud forecast for this afternoon.

My experiment with trying to read as a cure for insomnia was an abject failure. It may, however, have reawakened my reading habit. It was a Lee Child book that I brought to bed last night, and it was just too good to put down. I am now 297 pages in and can't wait to read the end. I really don't know why I lost my love of reading which started when I was very young. I still remember the first book I ever picked up and read for pleasure. The Sea Of Adventure by Enid Blyton. I remember staying with my godparents when I was 11 and reading my way through all my godfather's Biggles books. According to one of my sisters in law I like men's books, her definition of anything non romantic.

After staying awake reading for hours Mr GF woke me up while it was still dark. He had managed to lose his duvet onto the floor and was trying to steal mine He was really cold.

Sorry to hear about all the poorly toes. I hope They get sorted out soon.

Two Christmases for a little girl, Jay. How wonderful for her.

I hope that everyone has a great, painfree day.

                          • Good morning fellow insomniacs (or exceptionally early risers).

I think I've had a couple of hours of sleep ..... but not enough.

It's still a long time until dawn. I've just had a wander around and although it is, according to my phone, 5°C outside there is definitely a frost. I did consider raiding the fridge, in passing, but couldn't think of anything I fancied. Probably just as well. I might just go grab a glass of milk though, but that means getting out of my warm cocoon again.

                            • Morning GF and all.

No frost here, what I can see of the morning looks damp and misty. Stay in bed, GF, I'm dressed, I'll bring you some warm milk and cookies, send you back off to sleep.

                              • I popped to my local l@keland store yesterday to get some fir cones that burn with different colours for a stocking filler. My niece and her OH have had a new woodburner installed (he's a tree surgeon, so plenty of free wood). I had a good wander around, looking at all the baking and cooking accessories that I would love but know I would never use, and picked up a few other stocking fillers.

I was disappointed not to see any fir cones, and when I mentioned it to the lady on the till, she immediately came out from behind the counter and found them for me. That's the kind of service that keeps me going back to a shop.
