  • Did someone mention tea?….ooo, yes please!…I’m always up for a brew. My granny trained me well…she always had a warm teapot in a hand knitted cosy. A fresh brew all the time of course - I’m not good with tannin

    • Good morning all.

I think that I've caught up on some sleep, although I was awake for an hour at around 4am.

The weather seems to have calmed down somewhat now and the sun is trying to peep out sporadically. I'm sure our reservoir levels must be rising, we had hours and hours of heavy rain yesterday. At one point some of the trees seemed to be almost bent double in the wind gusts.

I've just got a notification've got an Amazon parcel due today. Boring things though, nothing exciting. Mr GF got an unexpected parcel from M & S yesterday. It turned out to be a Colin the Caterpillar gift box, including a cake. I've put it away until tomorrow. He'll just get the two supplied candles on it as if I poked a candle for every year into it it would look more like Colin, the hedgehog and be a fire hazard.

      Coffee time!

        • While just amending my online shopping list I noticed they had some Tefal garment steamers on offer. Does anyone use one? Are they any good?

          • GF those garment steamers look a cross between a hair dryer and an embossing gun. I’ve seen them being used but I don’t own one.

            • Hi again all

Nicos Plain rosemary & apple jelly is fine but, for the best flavour, you need to add cider or even armagnac to give it a a bit of a kick. I made some when we had five Bramley trees in our garden on Scilly AND a huge rosemary bush AND hubby made his own cider - it proved very popular!

Really glad that Storm Amy has gone through now. It was extremely windy and I was awake for an hour in the wee small hours fretting about our old property (which is destined to be demolished and a new bungalow built in its place) because this week has seen a very expensive asbestos removal operation by a local specialist firm. So the property was in a much more fragile state than it would have normally been. I had visions of the roof and slates flying off across Truro, damaging nearby properties, and costing us a fortune to remedy. Fortunately it was just a bit of doom-and-gloom. The property is fine but it will be good when the builder finally moves in later this month, sets up the site and gets to work on the demolition.

My low back pain is finally abating and today was much more comfortable. I might even feel up to doing some planting and greenhouse work tomorrow now I can actually stand upright and not curled over. I have the results of my MRI soon and an appointment with the Spinal Interface Clinic practitioner but she wasn't much help last time and I don't expect much this time either. So I will be off to the chiropractor probably later in the week.

Glad your hand is recovering now, rary, and you didn't need too many painkillers. But don't overdo it - no climbing ladders to clean out gutters like hubby did a few days after his hand op!

Need to head to bed now, have a good night's sleep folks

              • Morning from a dull, dark, wet West of Scotland!! It’s so dark this morning but not cold! Off out for blood tests and grocery shopping…strange mix.
Enjoy your day folks, catch you later. x

Jay, the sunshine is here with me today. Still breezy though.

It's quite satisfying to combine two or more unrelated tasks into one trip, though, isn't it? It feels as if you are saving both time and energy, plus the accomplishment of jobs well done.

Time for another cofee, then I'm off to the tip with some scrap wood.

                  Have a good day all.

                    • Good Morning All Sunny here and feels a bit warmer. A young woman has just been to ask me if she could pick up some apples from under the tree. I gave her a carrier bag and told her to fill her boots! Have a good day

                      • Good morning all.

It's not too bad a morning, weatherwise. The sun is trying to peep out.

Mr GF has just had a phone call from an old friend wishing him a happy birthday.

Bren, I must sort through my wardrobe. I'm sure that all the size 10s and maybe even the size 12s can go and all the sleeveless and short clothes. There's even a few "cruise dresses" hiding away in there. As for shoes, I now wonder now how on earth I could walk in some of them. Big handbags too, all I carry most of the time now is my phone. Mind you it wasn't uncommon to find a pair of secateurs or a couple of spanners hiding in the depths of my handbag at one time. Definitely time for a clear out. I need some strong bin bags.

Flo, I'm just picturing your apple scrumper hopping home barefoot with her wellies full of apples.

                            Me too!

Happy birthday to Mr GF. Hope he enjoys the caterpillar.

Oh, and welcome, armorel, to the club of people trying to stop rary climbing ladders at times when more sensible people would keep both feet on terra firma.

Looks like being another day when I won't be able to get everything I need to do done. I made a mistake and dug out an old computer for Mr Snoop... Still, we'll both be glad when it's up and running and everything has been updated.

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

                            • Afternoon n’alln’all
Very late on today but it’s been a very bonkers day for me
Anyway…all settled , wood fire lit and supper on the go….

Its actually been a lovely day here weather wise.

I think I too need to sort out my wardrobe…I’ve a couple of lovely ball gowns needing something doing with them. Far too good to send to charity , but a pain to try and sell. But also plenty of other clothes far too small which I would love to wear if I lost quite a bit of weight. Hats off to you Bren for managing to take the leap and clear out clothes you still like.

                              • Evening

Just home from a stroll, I’ve not achieved much today I didn’t get to the charity shop either will call in tomorrow when I go for my Covid/flu jab.

Nicos no ball gowns just skirts and trousers that have been hanging around far too long. I’ve altered one of the skirts to fit but it’s to difficult to take in walking trousers.

Sending birthday wishes to MrGF hope he shared his cake.

                                enjoy your evening
