  • Good afternoon.

I don't know where the morning went. I had a small grory hop delivery earlier, mostly ice cream and booze.

The district nurse that I was expecting on Friday to give Mr GF his vitamin B12 injection turned up yesterday. I don't know if it makes a difference.

I'm waiting for a call from the doctor's for my annual prescription review, the appointment that I booked through the AI system. All will be fine as long as I get a call from a real person.

The pharmacist has rung. She wants me to reduce one of my medications, but I can't see that being a problem. I hate taking any tablets.

Rary, I hope your grandson is feeling better today, you must have a capable granddaughter. How old are they?

    • A chap used to come to take buckets of apples to a food bank and the rest to a stable greenishfing but he didn't show last year, or this. I've let a few passers by take as many as they wanted. The organisations that do juicing had more than they could cope with! Apparently the dry weather has meant loads of fruit. We have a green belt close by and they have had buckets of apples for anyone.
Strange that Bren's not had as many as usual.

      • Morning all.

Am I first up? I'll get the kettle on then, and there is toast and marmalade curd with the tea today.

Definitely chilly here, isn't central heating bliss? I wouldn't want to go back to just a coal fire for warmth, lovely though they are.

            • Good morning all.

It feels chilly here too. Mothhawk, I agree about the bliss of central heating. A real fire looks so nice, but on a cold wintery morning, when it has gone out overnight, and has to be cleaned out and relaid, it is far from blissful. I bet there are modern children who have never experienced ice on the inside of their bedroom windows and getting dressed under the bed covers. Weirdly, although I was brought up in a pit village, where everybody had coal fires, which are supposed to be so polluting, I never knew any children with asthma. We seemed to be hardy, independent, semi-feral little blighters.

              Coffee time now.

              • Good morning all,A lovely sunny morning here.

Yes,central heating is the best thing that ever happened.
Like you GF, I can remember frost on the windows and getting dressed under the covers.
The hardest part was waiting for the coal fire to heat up the room and cleaning out the ash.

I am going to make a concentrated effort to sort the garden out for the winter as we are away on holidays next week,
                Have a good day all.

                • Afternoon all.

Late on parade because I've shopping. Only online but with a bit of help from ChatGPT I've bought a new fridge. And then with a bit of help from Mr Snoop, I've bought us a pellet heater. The pellet heater is the nearest we'll get to central heating, as it's programmable. So, we're moving into the modern era. Will still be keeping the woodburning range and the woodburning stove. I reckon the stove will end up going eventually, though.

Anyway, a productive morning, including a walk with Jack and other online shopping I have absolutely no excuse for... At least it wasn't a recipe book.

Brunch to make before Mr Snoop dies of starvation.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

                  • Me again...

                    Morning all.

Bright but proper chilly out. Jack champing at the bit to be off on a walk, but stuff to do first.

Mr Snoop did not die of starvation yesterday due to late brunch, but he has campaigned for a bit of a change in dietary habits. So I'd better get on with said stuff and Jack's walk so I can work out what brunch will be other than green soup... Nope, it's just occurred to me: freekeh with feta and assorted bits. A lot more tempting.

                    Have a great day, everyone.

                          • Good afternoon.

We didn't get up until 9 am. The grory hop was due between 10 am and 11 am. I then got a phone call from the memory clinic. They'd got a cancellation, could someone call and visit Mr GF at 10 am. I said yes but warned them that the grory hop would be arriving.

A nurse came to assess him. I found it very upsetting. I did, however, point the nurse in the right direction about getting an allotment and told him to put his name down now if he wants one in a couple of years time when he retires.

                            • ^Really sorry to hear about Mr GF's assessment, GF. My dad hated his. Couldn't do a lot of the things asked of him and found them very distressing. My mum thought they weren't in the least bit helpful but quite the opposite.

Big hugs to you and Mr GF.

                              • Good afternoon, sorry for absence the past couple of days, have been rather busy with one thing and another, had to take grandson to the doctors, where we discovered that he has a couple of broken ribs, fortunately his sister went in with him to see the doc. she has also managed to arrange to work from home so she is there for him which saved me having to sit in with him, but I did take him to give a blood sample, and as he has a phobia about needles could have been a problem, but a few words of encouragement helped, I told him if he didnt behave himself I would soften his ribs for him though at 21 years of age and 6ft.4 I was maybe pushing my luck a bit, but between running up with meals for the two of them, and doing a shopping for them also I have had a busy time of it, I have also been trying to get some work done in the garden and greenhouse as I hope to get my carpal tunnel procedure done next Tuesday, and if so that will be me out of action for three or four weeks, I feel there's not enough hours in the day at present, however what will be will be. Just finished a quick cup of coffee and now heading out to the greenhouse for a time, so enjoy the day and keep smiling
