  • Pouring with rain now. Hope this deluge goes some way towards filling the depleted reservoirs. I've made some tomato soup today, half of which is for a disabled neighbour who lives alone. He's grown lots of tomatoes and he gave me some very soft ones that he thought he might have to throw away. I've also stewed some more apples.
Glad to hear your skip has finally gone Lottie and I hope you have a lovely holiday.
Back to the Escape Room now to redo a favourite jigsaw.

Safe travels Nicos for your trip.
FF what's the favourite jigsaw of? Mum is currently doing a florists shop.

No rain this morning, it is bright and cool. OH has even clicked the heating on for a bit.
No plans yet but will harvest my borlotti beans and put fleece over some things as due 0 on the forecast but it is sometimes lower than that.

        Brew anyone?

        • Morning CG and all.

Yes please, CG, I'll have a cuppa with you. Definitely cooler today, but nice to see the sun again. The courgette plants are destined for the compost today. there are still flowers and a couple of baby fruit but they won't do anything now the temperature has dropped. I can plant out in the space a few mooli I have that are still in cell pots. They may grow on. They have two chances anyway.

Ooo, yes please CG - a brew would be wonderful- perfect timing! Ta muchly.

My Guinness jigsaw arrived the other day. Box badly damaged but salvageable.
Good job it isn’t a gift!

Much of the same today…cleaning, packing and some more gardening give that the sun is shining. Deadheading my cosmos and collection their seeds is a top priority…they have been fabulous this year- thanks to advice I’ve had on here!

Enjoy your day peeps, and remember to share those lovely smiles

              A dry sunny-ish day here.

With the night time temperatures dropping i'm moving my lettuce buckets into the GH, pulling up any Marigolds thats in the way, I've still got 2 cucumbers plants hanging on I doubt the cucs will get much larger than the 2inch they are now but I'll fleece them and see.

              Enjoy your day

                • Good morning.

It's only 7°C here at the moment. I'm waiting for things to warm up a bit. At least it is sunny. Yesterday was unrelenting rain. It was raining lightly when I got up and it just got heavier throughout the day. It was still raining when I went to bed.

Tomorrow is the Autumn equinox, a harbinger of darkness and cold.

Nicos, don't forget to pack some thermals!

I should have parcels arriving today, the fruits of my online shopping on sleepless nights.

Time for good, strong coffee now!

                  • Good morning all, sunny and dry but just 7 degs,
The usual Sunday here, going to mass and then some of the family will call in,

NIicos, I grew cosmos Millennium from seed this year and while they grew well, they were all orange when the packet said they were mixed,

The jigsaw I am doing are of a pair of cats dressed in old fashioned clothes, it's beautiful but I am struggling with it as the background is very dark and my eyesight is not good
                    Have a good Sunday all,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                    • Morning all.

Late on parade today. Sorry about that.

Brunch next on the cards for us and I have no idea what we should have. Mini burritos would use up a load of bits and bobs in the fridge and are currently the most likely option.

I managed to do a fair bit of the outstanding domestics yesterday. Not sure if I should be embarrassed that they've been outstanding for so long or proud that I have at last got them done!

Safe travels, Nicos. Are you taking any goodies with you?

                      Have a great day, everyone.

                      • Good afternoon all.

Snoop Puss, you should be proud, not embarrassed. There are so many nicer things to do than housework.

I have changed the bed this morning and changed to the Autumn weight duvet and the brushed cotton bedding. The duvet set has pictures of deer and leafless trees with acorns and hips on them. A definite wintery feel. The temperature is forecast to drop to 4°C tonight. I have already found my voluminous snuggly fleece hoody.

There was no rain in the forecast when I put my bedding in the washer earlier. Now, however, when it's on the washing line, we suddenly have a 44% chance at 6pm.

Loved being in the garden today and had Robin digging around for company.
When we walked this morning we passed a car that had been parked overnight, walker gone up to the bothy for the night. Well the car had frost on it at 8am colder by the river.
I've fleeced outside some things. Due to be ok rest of the week- we shall see.
Might have to get my jigsaw out and then I can join the gang

The suns been out all day we've had a mix of laundry, gardening and chutney making so a good proactive Sunday. Back indoors now for some fruit.

                            enjoy your evening.

                            • Afternoon!
Camper now packed - gifts are mostly wine ( of course!) French biscuits and nibbles…all sorted.

I had to shake my head in disbelief earlier…our GP has always insisted that we have Vitamin D infused oil twice a year as we live in the north of France and are exposed to very low levels of UV.
He must be gobsmacked at how little UV exposure we had in the north of Cheshire in comparison ( from where we originate) ….never mind how much less in more northern areas of the UK, Why don’t they check everyone routinely in the UK? So many knock on effects from low levels…. Goodness knows how people actually thrived in ancient times when they knew little about Vitamins and UV!
                              Anyway…away from routine medical stuff!..
finally…finally, some of our outdoor peppers have started to turn orange!…so, so chuffed.
So, the question is…do we fleece them or pick them? Lows of 6C ( or less) forecast for next week. Maybe half and half as an experiment?

                              • Funny enough the only time I was told to keep taking vit D was when I saw a stand in renal consultant who was Swiss. He said with our low levels I hold continue it even after stopping steroids (reason I was taking it with calcium).

Have a great trip Nicos. I don't know re peppers. I'd probably fleece them.
