If my vacuum cleaner could talk I'm sure it would be be having a major rant about overwork today.

Last night we had tinned peaches and cream and I really wasn't impressed with the peaches and there was half a tin left. I tipped them into a jug together with some milk and zapped them with the stick blender. Peach milkshake? We both had a glassful this afternoon. Yum !Yum!Nothing like as nice as eating perfectly ripe fresh juicy peaches, but very enjoyable.

Mr GF has now had the last of his B12 injections and is happy. There is absolutely no sign of his paranoia now, I am happy to say, but taking nothing for granted.

Sciatica for weeks, Bramble. That sounds awful. Pain that goes on like that is really debilitating and depressing. Not easy to cure either. Are you on painkillers or physiotherapy? Hope your recovery speeds up.

How long did you leave your peach milkshake in the fridge for, GF? Do you think the milk might curdle if left a long time? We've still got tinned peaches from our Covid stash. They're not my favourite tinned fruit by any means, so they're just sitting there. A milkshake sounds like it would be a good way to free up space on the shelves.

On the cards for today: a bit of a grory hop then tidying then work. And a nap. I tried for a nap yesterday, but Missie is missing Frankie so much she decided she'd wrap herself round my head instead of him. She hasn't done that for ages. It's not very comfortable (for me) and extremely hot in these temperatures. But I'm such a softie... I didn't like to shift her.

Morning all.

In anticipation of the expected heat today I've already vaccuumed the house and been for a walk. I made yoghurt yesterday and let it drain a bit to thicken it up, so now I'm thinking of making scones with the whey before it gets too hot. Funny, I always seem to get the urge to bake when the weather is hot. When it's cold, wet and miserable I'm never inspired to bake cakes or pies.

GF, will Mr GF have regular B12 jabs every 3 months now? Or will you keep him topped up with B12 vitamin tablets? I know the jabs made a huge difference to my mum, and I could always tell when she was due another.

Poor Missie, Snoop. I hope Frankie soon learns that Jack is not a threat. I suppose he's quite offended at two new members of the household in a fairly short space of time.

Wow…are you lot entering into a Domestic Goddess competition?
Today will be a pottering day for me. Another bad night’s sleep, so I’ll be kind to myself.
I do know however, that the last of the cherries need picking…well, the ones not rotting on the branches. Such a waste.
Interestingly though…not a sign of a wasp eating the ones of the ground. That used to be the norm at this time. Bit worrying tbh.

Other jobs will have to include tidying up the main house as we have a different friend arriving tomorrow to stay. A good excuse to hide the ironing pile eh?
Menus sorted, so perhaps a siesta later too.

Gosh bramble….sciatica is the pits…hope you have found a position to at least ease the pain when it’s at its worst?

Hope Frankie starts hanging around more Snoop. How old was he when you got him?…I wonder if he’d been chased/ scared by hunting dogs or wild boar at some point in his babyhood? I guess your older dog would have been much calmer around him so didn’t seem to pose a threat? Hope he’s still visiting for food and water…

Talking of cat food….Hibou has so far this morning brought in two voles today for our breakfast…….she was stalking around one of the potagers so all the more reason to celebrate in that they could well have been munching on our veggies/ roots etc

so..lazy bones here needs to get a wiggle on although I could pause for a little longer and have another brew….anyone fancy one?

Mothhawk, the district nurse has already booked him in for his next injection in 3 months time. What difference did they make to your mum?

Snoop, I didn't leave the milkshake in the fridge. The leftover peaches were in a container in the fridge. I literally just tipped them into a jug, zapped them, added milk, zapped again and poured into 2 glasses. We drank them immediately.

It's a very overcast morning here, but warm, already in the low twenties. It looks like rain, but there's none in today's forecast. On Monday, we're going back up to 30+°C again.

Good morning all...Bright and breezy here.
A grory hop this morning and a trip to the library.

I have been taking over the counter pain killers with little effect.
I rang the surgery yesterday afternoon when the pain got bad and was lucky to get an app late in the afternoon.
Dr, gave me a prescription for anti inflamatories for 2 weeks to see if that works.

Snoop, poor Missie, it will take her a while to get used to all the changes.

Mothhawk, good idea to get out before it gets too hot, early morning is so peaceful.

Really hope the new painkillers give you some relief, Bramble.

I tried countless times to persuade my brother to get B12 jabs for my mum. It makes a huge difference. Frankie actually identified very closely with the two dogs we had when he arrived. But he has had run-ins with visiting dogs who were not at all friendly. He turned up for breakfast this morning when Jack was shut in another room. But he could hear Jack and wouldn't eat unless I was standing right next to him. We're hoping it'll all be OK once we start taking Jack for walks (still waiting for more jabs and there's parvovirus in the area, including among the fox population, so too risky to take him out at the moment). Even the cats used to come on our walks and it was a regular routine that they were used to. So with any luck, if we start taking Jack on the lead, Frankie will join us and get used to him.

As we got to week 11 (of 12 - 3 months), my mum became irritable and cross, and also a little confused. It could be she was irritable because she was feeling confused and uncertain, I'm not sure. She also didn't sleep through the night, and I would find her sitting on the edge of her bed at 2am thinking it was time to get up, but then feel totally washed out and tired all day. Totally out of character as she was always good tempered and perfectly compos mentis the rest of the time. Of course, her confusion wasn't helped by not being able to see or hear well.

I used to say to the nurse, if only the interval between injections was 11 weeks instead of 12, we would both have been much happier. She took a vitamin pill containing B12 every day, but evidently that is not enough to ward off the effects of deficiency.

I was half watching Raymond Blanc on TV this morning. He cooked aubergine parmigiano. It has now gone on my list of "must cook" meals. It looked so good I could practically taste it. I'm really fancying something tomatoey and garlicky now. I think I might make ratatouille to go with my roast chicken instead of salad tonight.

^Aubergine parmigiana is one of my absolute favouritest dishes.

Did he do layers of cheese? It's often fontina, if so. But that's a bit pricey. I just use grated mozzarella and ricotta, plus a bit of parmesan on top. You don't need much mozzarella and ricotta. Happy eating, GF!

Not much happening here today too hot to do much in the garden, we did have a wonder over to the Pound shop for some plant clips but not much else caught my eye.
