  • Afternoon, a dull 15° today. Nothing on the cards.
We too had a video call from our granddaughter after her two half days at ‘big school’. All she could tell us was that William was in her class…William obviously made a big impression.
Her brother or sister is due in two weeks time, really looking forward to meeting him or her. Our granddaughter is convinced it’s a girl as she doesn’t like boys. My daughter pointed out that her friend had a brother. Her reply…yes but he’s a toddler and I like toddler boys, I don’t like baby boys’!! 😀
Anyhoo have a great day everyone, glad to hear you are on the mend Bren!

    • Good afternoon, it was a dull, col morning but the sun is out now and has turned a bit warmer, was at th church coffee morning and while up the town I collected a parcel from the post office, its a new router for the internet, which will be connected up on Tuesday, this will be quite a difference from the AOL that GF was on about last night , well if I remember it right from how my mother described it, Snoop I am not fibbing, just stretching the truth, which of course means I don't need to own up to anything, anyway the vowes were, "for better or worse" though I definitely wont be saying who got what, but to be honest, I do think that I should listen to my OH as she does make better decisions than me. I am now going back out to the garden where at present I have two water drums draining as I am going to build their stand with brick rather than leaving it with wood, so enjoy the day and keep passing on the smi

      • One of my brothers had a friend who was known by the nickname "Elastic" - for the same reason Rary. He was a lovable rogue!
The bedding I hung out at lunchtime is dry, despite being almost blown off the lines it's so windy. Now for one of my least favourite jobs, sweeping the stairs. There's an attachment with the hoover, but I use a stiff handbrush, I'm sure it does a better job.

        • I’ve had a lovely day in the garden.
Just kept nipping in and out, grabbing a glass of water etc etc.
I took a pile of elbows off our tomato plants …then potted them very deep into new pots. Just the chunkiest 10 into 5 big pots.
So it looks like we now have 20 outdoor marmande tomato plants.
          Looking good!

No. If he had, I wouldn't have minded so much, but shifting wicker chests full of clothes and goodness knows whatever else at 6.00 am is not my idea of fun.

I've been half asleep virtually all day ever since. Still haven't done my tax declaration...

            • Morning all.

I'm as bouncy as a bunny today. Went to bed at 9.30, up at 2.00 am for a 'midnight' feast of melon and then back to sleep like a log till 7.15 am. Bliss. It was a cool night as well, so all the better.

And my brain is working well enough to tackle my tax declaration at long last. Better do it now while the going's good.

Hope you all have jollier things to be doing today.

              Have a great day, everyone.

te he Snoop….you do sound bouncy today!
                Me?…well, I had a rubbish night’s sleep

I think today will have to be a cherry picking day…the tree is laden but all on the ends of the very top branches.
I picked a bowlful yesterday and a lot have already started to go mouldy in the bowl so it’s going to need to be a carefully selected pick- without breaking our necks in the process then getting them straight into the freezer. They certainly aren’t liking this hot, wet weather we’ve had over the past couple of weeks.
I’m starting to keep an eye on the spuds too…it very much feels like blight weather…

                Right…who fancies a brew?

Enjoy your day peeps…even you Snoop, it’ll be all done and dusted before you know it, then just think how chuffed you’ll be

                    • Good morning all.

It's cool, grey and still at the moment, no hint of sunshine.

One of my nieces has just sent my a photograph of a small tray of perfectly formed Morello cherries. They've come from the "dead stick" that I bought her for her birthday in January.

I didn't sleep well last night and I don't know why. I think a siesta might be in order later.

The district nurse is due sometime today to give Mr GF his last vitamin B12 injection.

Off to make more coffee now.

Snoop, I could do eith some of that energy, I have sciatica in my leg for the last few weeks and it's slowing me down.
Anyway, have a good dsy all,

                        • Afternoon all.

Cloudy here too, Bramble. Hope your sciatica clears up soon, it's miserable to be in pain, especially when the weather is hot.

I'm waiting in for ST Water to come and sort my stopcock. It has always been hidden by a little cupboard in the downstairs toilet, but yesterday I removed the cupboard and found the stopcock has obviously had a very slow drip for quite some time. I tried fiddling with the tap, and made it worse. Oops! I think the packing inside the gland nut has probably perished and needs replacing.

I couldn't find a phone number for this sort of problem, so I called the emergency line, even though it is not (yet) an emergency. I wanted to know if they would fix it or if I needed a plumber. Anyway, as I had a meter fitted a couple of months ago, STW said they will come and do it. Fingers crossed they do. I've had to turn the tap completely off now, and it is still dripping slowly. Good job I filled the kettle first!

                          • Good evening, cool and wet here today, and not looking good for the coming week, did manage to make a new stand for my water bins the onethat they were on was showing a bit of damage from all the water that lands on it, so now resting on brick pillars so should be a lot safer, I used paving blocks and they are glued rather than cement so didnt have to wait for anything to set, and with the rain we are getting I reckon the first bin will be filled by tomorrow, I also have pulled my first tomatoes and filled a bowl with raspberries so quite pleased with that, I am also pleased with my potatoes this year, I have several smaller tubs which I had filled with weeds then topped up with water, they have been sitting for about twelve weeks and I decided to add some to a watering can and have used this to feed my potatoes, have never tried this before, but will definitely be trying this again, as the potatoes have a definite improvement to the taste, I gave my neighbour some of them and he remarked that they were tasty, every day is a school day though I am a bit surprised some of you older folk have never meed doing this well have a good evening whatever the weather and keep smiling

                            • Evening

It’s still sunny and rather breezy here. A bit of gardening and lots of reading.

Hope ST water sorted out your stopcock MH it’s difficult to be without water especially when it’s this hot.

                              Enjoy your evening

                              • The stopcock is sorted. The engineer (are they called that I wonder) didn't arrive until 4.30pm and I was beginning to think I'd be the whole weekend without water, but no, I was the last job on his list as he apparently lives only two villages away so was almost on his way home. He fixed the stopcock literally in 5 minutes! Took him longer to fill out the paperwork. Anyway, I was truly thankful for his work and his 30 years of experience.
