  • Morning

No rain here yet they keep altering the forecast not complaining the rain hasn’t arrived we have sunshine instead.

A bit of a Grory hop earlier, the Laundry is almost dry and I’ve made oatcakes not a bad morning.

    • No raspberry magnums …I‘ll be finishing my grory hop in a huuuge hypermarket later in the week so I’ll check them out there.

We have a lovely sunny day - sorry if I’m hogging it.

I’ve just spent the last hour with my OH picking/ raking up rotten black cherries out of the lawn. Never had so many go to waste before…and to make things worse they are dropping off wet so ready to stain anything which comes in contact with them ( thinking guests shoes) We’ve yet to attack underneath the massive wild cherry tree in the other garden.

The sad thing is that there was only one wasp and one bee feeding off them.( We just put the collected ones to one side so they have easy access)

      • Good evening all.
Well, we had a lovely day without rain.
I got two lots of laundry dry...they will be ironed on the next wet day.
Lots done in the garden so a very satisfying day all round.
        Have a good night all,

And your hands begin to harden.

        • Morning all.

Due to be extremely hot today. But not battening down the hatches just yet. We had a positively chilly low by our standards last night of just 16.3 ºC. So all the doors and windows are still open. Even got a cardie on this morning in my basement, where it's just 19 ºC. 80% humidity though due to the heavy dew. Remarkable. Doesn't pay to read about all the natural disasters and fires around the world. Depressing stuff.

Lots of paid work on the cards for me today. Going to try and persuade Mr Snoop to take it relatively easy.

Just putting the kettle on for a cup of tea if anyone wants to join me.

          Have a great day, everyone.

ooohhh…I’d love a cuppa please Snoop. Ta muchly x

I was thinking about you seeing the news about high temperatures….I hope you are both OK lass….and of course your pets…and all your neighbours….
I wonder how the wildlife copes?…do you leave out water for birds/ butterflies etc?

I recall being in Masada many moons ago and it hit 45 C but the humidity was only low so it didn’t seem so unbearable. But boy did you need to drink as you didn’t realise how much we were sweating as it instantly evaporated.

We are having very mild weather by comparison infact much cooler and wetter than usual

            Keep safe everyone x

            • We have water about the place, but the only things coming to drink are wasps. I heard an owl last night. The first one in ages and usually we have four or five in our valley. Hardly ever hear foxes calling either. I'm guessing the lack of foxes and owls is indicative of a dearth of small prey. Our gecko population has plummeted. Beetles and spiders are now a rarity. In fact, the only insects we see regularly apart from wasps (fewer than most years and no hornets at all this year, when last year we had a lot of the big European jobs) are flies and mosquitoes. Not good.

                • Mid morning all,
I didnt get a chance to check in earlier.
I had an extremely early appointment with the eye specialist.
She is not happy and so my name is down for an eye op.
Apart from that, it's a lashing wet day so no gardening on the cards.
Enjoy the sun and the fine weather ewho ever is lucky enough to have it.

                  • Good afternoon.

No sun here, just grey and rainy at the moment. I did a grory hop earlier and took my brother-in-law too.

Mr GF is going for some fillings at the dentist later.

                    • Afternoon

Went shopping then gardening this morning before the lunchtime rains started. Been raining heavily for the last 2 hours so I’ve been catching up on my reading and knitting.

Hope you don’t have to long a wait for your Op Bramble xx

                          • Good evening, started of with some cloud this morning, but as we were going shopping it wasn't a problem, there were the occasional slever in the wind till mid day when it rained for about ten minutes then cleared up with a nice warm sunny afternoon, then clouds moved back in about six, garden wise I did some dead heading of flowers both in garden and baskets, in the greenhouse there is finally a tomato starting to turn red, like Snoop there are very few wasps about some bumblebees but not as many as you would expect, also in the greenhouse there are no whitefly which I was putting down to the fact I have a number of French marigold plants along with several clumps of basil, but there are very few insects going about other than the midges, and when I think on it there are no swifts present either, though I could be missing seeing them due to high hedges, but even with that I think I would see them about, as Snoop says, not good. Hope you get your op. soon bramble and that everything is OK with it
I wish you all a good night and a pleasant day tomorrow

                              • Positive thoughts for you from me too Bramble - let’s hope it’s all sorted nice and quickly x

Hope Mr gf managed his supper. Was it just me, but I recall never having local injection pain relief as a kid at the dentist. The first time I was offered one was at Uni!

We had a lovely day weather wise. I got loads of washing line dried
Even with all the rain we’ve had recently the soil is bone dry because of the drying winds. The extra mulching in parts is proving beneficial though

Sleep well peeps - see you in the morn.
