      • I changed my mind the other day and had bought chicken pasra, so I'll have the soup tonight with the rest of the tiger bread. Himself managed some homemade cheese and onion tart yesterday, but he wants Justa again today. I'll try to tempt him with some strawberries after

        • What’s his favourite filling Flo?
I can almost always eat a banana butty…any meal of the day…and sometimes with a smidge of peanut butter depending if it’s main course or dessert!

We forgot to eat our trifle again yesterday…got distracted with a dessert one of the guests gave us..so that’s a must for tonight.
They also left cream so I’ll whip that up so it’ll look even more like a trifle!

            • Just making tomorrow night’s supper…Tis too hot to be working indoors and outside at the moment.
(I gave OH the last choc- ice ..clearly they must be added to the shopping list!)

So. I’m indoors making something I sort of made up when I was a student.
I’m sure it’s actually well known, but I’ve never see on a recipe for it.

Basically a cross between a quiche and a sort of open pie.
              Cheese and onion ploughman’s Tart.
Onions sauteeed as usual then added to a cheesey rue to which I’ve added chutney, tomatoes, cream, milk and salt and white pepper…and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. …then stir in 4 whole eggs to help it puff up.
Poured over a deep pastry base and baked in the same was as a quiche.

So that served cold with chips and a side salad ( maybe baked beans too) tomorrow followed by a fresh fruit salad.

              Nice to be ahead!

              • ^Apart from the onions, those are the ingredients used to make Welsh Rarebit back in my waitressing days as a Saturday job. Rarebit and onion tart?

                • His favourite is corned beef Nicos, but he hasn't had any meat since his fall. He's been alternating between cheese and crisps - chicken and smoky bacon! He usually has fruit for lunch, but he's not had lunch since the fall. I've told him to expect further problems if he doesn't get back to a more varied diet soon

                  • Oh dear, Flo. That's not good at all. Loss of appetite due to concussion? Not easy to make someone eat if they don't want to, or to go to the doctor if they don't want to.

Is there anything he used to like that might tempt him? Just to get some calories in him. Chip butty, jam doughnut, chocolate... I won't suggest curry.

Well, I had no idea egg went into Welsh rarebit! No wonder mine never worked out as well as my friend’s did. I just copied what my mom did

So…Rarebit and onion tart it is then
