I'm not sure if it counts but its sort of free food! A whole patch of radishes bolted straight to flower and have been running wild ever since in a corner of the garden........I just picked a bowlful of seedpods - absolutely delicious added to my salad.

      Two blackberries

My lunch today was mouldy and I didn't have any money on me to buy a sandwich, so I had the brilliant idea of having a walk down the canal tow path in search of food. I had visions of hand fulls of blackberries, apples, pears, but no all I can find was two ripe blackberries.

Picked plenty of blackberries at the weekend and there is a pit of apple and blackberry on the stove. There is an apple tree in the woodland near me and they will be ready soon. Off blackberry picking again this weekend so I can make plenty of jam and turnovers

This is an interesting site for photos of edible flowers - including radish. Scroll through it until you get there. You'll find some surprises along the way! Flower Facts: Edible Flowers | Flower Blog

I have to say I didn't spot the purple flowers but they were abandoned and it was only when I went to clear the bed I spotted the seed pods - a lovely crunchy radish task (but look a bit like green birdseye chillis in shape!)

Had to go and mow a lawn this morning, as I didn't get it done yesterday. The owners are away, and told me to help myself to anything needing harvesting! Nice handful of Runner Beans, and two yummy Tomatoes. When I go back in the week, I'll be at the Gooseberries, as they told me they have far too many!

                    I've found an apple tree

My question is there anything to check for on the few apples I've picked? I don't want to cut into them to find grubs inside. They look ok on the outside.

                    I'm thinking mini apple pies

What's wrong with cutting into an apple if you're going to cook it? You need to taste it to check that its ripe and whether its an eater or a cooker.
Look for any holes, especially near the stalk or base or signs of discolouration on the peel.

Doesn't matter if there are grubs inside, the rest of the apple will be fine.
