That could’ve been disastrous, something else to watch for on windy days, good that you didn’t get hurt. When you’re gardening your in a peaceful mindset & then suddenly that happens, unexpected shock, hopefully it won’t happen again, ever.

At the moment the cover is off, so there is no danger of a repeat. It was very scary. particularly as I had been squatting down trimming grass edges exactly where it landed a little earlier in the day. It all happened very quickly and I would have had no chance of getting out of the way! The problem with those small polytunnels is that they have a door at one end but no way out at the other. A strong gust of wind from the direction of the door simply hits the back of the cover and takes the whole thing with it. The fact that the frame was weighed down by 4 large concrete blocks made no difference - they simply came over the fence with the tunnel. I have seen this happen to my brick garage so I know how powerful wind is and how futile it is to try to peg large things down.

I need to sow a lot of different things over the weekend & get the blowaway out the shed for all the little plants.

    Thursday jobs
Cut grass and finish edges at allotment - done edges
Plant peas - done, also some beetroot
Sort out covers for potatoes and strawberries - no
Sow carrots, dwarf beans - done

Got interrupted when the next door plot's polytunnel came flying over the fence and landed upside down on my raised beds. Thankfully it didn't do any damage, but I had to spend the rest of the gardening time removing its cover, disentangling it from the raspberries and putting it back where it belonged.

    No gardening time today.

    Weekend jobs (weather permitting)

    At my friend's

    * snow is not impossible but seems reasonably unlikely now.

    Jobs for Easter weekend

    At my friend's
Check peas and plant out if big enough - decided to leave them for now
    Weeding - no

    At allotment
Continue moving compost out of old hotbed - done
Make new hotbed if possible - done
Cut long grass edges - done some
    Sow parsnips - done
Harvest parsnips, leeks, lettuce thinnings - done plus spinach and rhubarb

    At home
Move compost into correct buckets for carrots and potatoes - done some
    Plant Desiree potatoes - no
Sow carrots, peas, fennel, flowers, microgreens - done except fennel
    Tidy garage - in progress
Harvest salad leaves, carrots - done

Also planted 2 cauliflowers in buckets and replaced the net over the carrot buckets with blowaway shelving as the cat was getting into the carrot cage and using the buckets as litter trays (thankfully not the one I have already sown). This is the next door neighbour's cat (a replacement for the old ginger one which was much better "garden trained" ) and it is an almighty nuisance.
