I've already got a job lot of mini zip lock bags so will bag them up. I guess the bags need to be labelled too so that Davy only has to divvy up the bags of seeds into each persons envelope.

Is 10 the ideal required number of seeds? - obvioulsy if you have less then there nothing else you can do.
Yes, otherwise nobody will know what the seeds are.

    • Oh dear - sad to report that I have had very poor results from my tomato plants this year - the only thing I can offer from my original list is some Matina seeds - they are really early and potato leaved - and it looks like they are good plants in adverse conditions!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

        • All my black brandywine's have had immature seeds, so I've binned them.

I think I have some christels plum (or some similar name, will have to look) which have been excellent this year. All outdoors, no signs of blight - where as my others have been blighted - nice taste too.

I've also some orange favourite that I got from nellie-m that have come into their own now.. late to get going, but now they're romping away so I should have two varieties to add to the mix.

          • This bit of sun we're having is working wonders on the late toms, I may have to change the Paul Robeson for something else (Burgess Mammoth maybe)but should have enough Heinz and Delicious for at least 8 seeds each.

            • I've not had any luck with the Carlton, sorry Botrytis beat me to it
I might be able to do a few each for the Purple Cherokee (they didn't have many seeds inside) they're fermenting now.
but the Rio Grande was as reliable as usual

              • My brandywines have been rubbish this year. But I have plenty of Golden Queen (german, I believe?), and Christel's Plum (originally from HSL) - which is excellent IMO.

They've just been set to ferment now.

edit - oh, heh forgot I posted above . The name of the toms was wrong though!

Chris, are your "golden queen" seeds from Nellie-M? If so, I believe they are Gelbe Koenigin and not Goldene Koenigin/Golden Queen. They are both yellow but are different varieties.

                      • Zaz, are you doing Cheethams Potato Leaved and Black and Brown Boar? If you are, and you need more seeds, I have some.

All ok on the Russian Black front, will be doing Black Trifele as well, seeing as I didn't realise I'd completely run out of [separated from Black Krim, long story] truffles....

They are yes, but they are much more orange in colour than my golden sunrise toms.. I don't have the sheet that she had sent with them - they are nice though.

What makes you believe this? Have you grown both types out? Which do you prefer?

Not this year, I already had so many I didn't sow these. Well done if you managed to get any!

I am growing both, the golden queen are a rich golden yellow. The gelbe koenigin are a really zingy yellow. Take a look at Nellie's pics - she says that they are different varieties. The orange favourites are pale orange.

                              • Right - I've not collected many seeds from this year because many of them were not mature enough when opened.

so, yesterday I got Mr Z to chop all the current ripe toms in half and pop on the hob for making into passata.

And lo and behold - the seeds are all ok.

So, I can offer a mix of Heritage Toms, a list of what they could be to be supplied. As I know what they 'could' be, just as they are all in the sieve at the moment altogether.

If people don't want to be growing unknown toms [they are mainly smaller cherry - Maskotka, Vova Yellow, Black Plum, Beijing Yellow, Koralik, or slightly larger, with Pendula Organge or Maja], then they can give them away/swap. Call it a lucky dip!
