Good morning.
A more or less sleepless night. I've already given in, got up, and made coffee.

It's 6°C here, and according to the forecast we might actually catch the occasional glimpse of the sun today
.
Oh, the vagaries of the Royal Mail! My postie collected two parcels yesterday morning. Later on I noticed that I had an email from them. Evidently they had been unable to collect my parcels as there was nobody in!!!

Really! I had handed both parcels to the postie, in fact she had fetched her van as one was a very bulky 5kg job.
Both parcels have now miraculously appeared in their system. One is in their Leeds depot, due to be delivered on Monday. The other is sort of there .... but hasn't decided where it is yet.
Their computer system is not, apparently, fit for purpose. Surprise! Surprise!
My hair is well overdue a "trim". Yesterday I had a mad five minutes and attacked it with my kitchen scissors
. Fortunately only my fringe suffered before common sense returned. Today I will text my hairdresser before I do any more damage
Enjoy your weekend everybody.

Mornin n’alln’all
Bright and sunny here but a very chill wind.
We are helping with building work for the next couple of days. All hands on deck with a first floor knock through into an extension.
I won’t be doing any of the harder stuff for a change, but I can certainly be a gofer lighter stuff, make brews ( served with chocolate hobnobs) and make bacon and egg butties and sausage and onion rolls. Always lovely to see a workers face light up when you swing by with any of those
Right- well, I best get that kettle on and dig out the hobnobs!
Enjoy your weekend peeps and keep those smiles coming

Good Morning All
Fine but dull here. Lots of little jobs today. I've a candle to shave for a start
Lord Ginger has appeared looking very wet and sulky. I haven't seen him since Thursday when Frank was here. Workers love refreshments Nicos, so you're a valuable member of the team. Have a good day

Morning all.
Sounds like you're an essential member of the team, Nicos. They won't work half as well and fast without you.
The weather respite continues! Rained in the night, but it's dry today. Tomorrow should be more of the same. Good opportunity to get more kindling in.
Not much other news. Jack has done a runner while out on a walk with the visitor. Looks like we'll have to go out and find him... Other than that, domestics and paid work on the cards.
Have a great day, everyone.

Yes, Flo, he found his own way back after about four hours.
Thank goodness. Our neighbours down the valley aren't in. So goodness only knows where he's been.
Edited: In case anyone's worried, there are no 'proper' roads nearby, just dirt tracks.Last edited by Snoop Puss; 31-01-2026, 02:38 PM.

What a dreich old day, as my wife got the coal in whilst I was in the shower, I have not actually been out of the house apart from a wander into the greenhouse to water the Strawberries that are now growing. Just had a proper full roast dinner rare breed "hairy coo"(bought from the farm) roasties, swede, carrot, parsnip and peas, gravy and a dollop of horseradish and yorkie puds.............................stuffed. (I'd like to say I grew the veggies, but ours were eaten before Christmas, need to grow more this year).
