Been awake since 2. OH at work and too early to walk the dog. I could read

Kettle has boiled if anyone is awake.

      • Good morning.

I've been awake for hours too, CG, but have now actually admitted defeat and made coffee, which I have brought back to bed.

It's rather chilly out. While I was making coffee, I observed one of my neighbours going out with his dog. He looked as if he was ready for a polar expedition. We still have snow in our forecast for Monday night!

I will be wrapped up shortly.

Ooh no snow in our forecast (that I know of, nor do I want any)

          • Containergardener, it's years since I've gone dog walking in the woods. We got a German Shepherd pup when I was 5 years old, to cure my fear of dogs. When I was a bit older I used to take him for long walks through the woods. If (when) I got lost I used to just say "Home Boy" and he showed me the way.

Brrrrrr….brrrrrr….bit surprised not to see a heavy frost when I looked out of the window tbh.

I’ve never had a dog. I seem to be allergic to every one I’ve been near. Visits to the vets were always difficult in that I’d be itching and wheezing within seconds of entering their front door.

I seem to be sleeping for Britain at the moment - I guess I have a lot of catching up to do.
Whats everyone up to this weekend?

Keep warm peeps. I saw the smiles whizz over not so long ago with their scarves trailing and bobble hats a-bobbing…..

              • Morning

A dry sunny-ish day here with bit of a breeze, shame its so cold with it. Never mind the laundry should dry.

No real plans today apart from making soup leek and potato, then a JA's and leek and make be a mixed veg one as well.

Wrap up warm and enjoy your day.

                • Good morning all.dull but dry and it's 8 degs.
A visit to the library, a call into the post office and a grory hop on our list for today.

Nicos, I don't know too much about import/exports but I know we export beef, lamb and dairy products into France.
I!m afraid I missed the boat on making millions.

Easter eggs are already in the shops and there has been angry complaints about prices.
A bag of mini eggs is now priced at €10 so it seems to be over the top for what it is.

Not a lot else on the cards so have a good day all.

You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                      • Morning all.

JA and leek soup sounds amazing, Bren. You got a recipe you could share?

90% probability of snow here this morning... Looking a lot less likely than that, but it's perishing cold. Yet more heavy rain overnight, drizzle for the next two weeks... Most of the olives are on the ground now and the proportionally few left on the trees will join them tomorrow, as we're forecast strong winds. A bad year for the local farmers.

Domestics and paid work on the cards for me for today. Might try again for pikelets with an afternoon cup of tea. My last ones were a bit stodgy - pan too hot I think, so done on the outside but not on the inside. With any luck, these ones might be better if anyone wants to join me.

                        Have a great day, everyone.

                        • Well no sign of the sun, been raining and still quite windy, no idea if we gat the predicted snow later, most seems to have gone the ski slopes higher up. I noticed the local supermarket has loads of Easter eggs along with stuff for Burns night, bonus is the whisky is on offer lol.

                          • Afternoon all.

Lots of sunshine here after a week of rain and drizzle. I shall be out in the garden later

Bramble, a famous brand of mini eggs is made in Poland, so I guess general shipping costs are added to the price of the product, plus world cocoa harvests were really bad in 2024 and not much better in 2025, by which time I'm imagining companies had already purchased their "Easter" cocoa at high prices.

                            • I sneaked back to bed this morning and got two hours of wonderful proper sleep.

It is actually dry today and the sun keeps trying to come out to play.

I've been struggling to get Mr GF to eat this morning. He had 2 teaspoons of his fruit corner yoghurt thing, supposedly his favourite, and then refused the rest. He had the tiniest bite of my corned beef sandwich. I was pretty much at a loss of what to try next when I remembered that I had strawberries in my overly full freezer. He's just had a ⅓ of a litre of milkshake in his sippy cup. Amazingly more calories and protein than his yoghurt would have been.
