    • Mornin n’alln’all
Foggy here too, but the promise of a sunny day ahead.

Hope you manage to get lots of the things on your tick list done today CG and they manage well without much help. Have you/ they got a shredder? ( that’s the best bit in my mind!)

I’m hoping to get the flowerbed sorted by our front door.
Theres a lot of lady’s Mantle gone rogue in the driveway in front of it which I chopped back to 6” in the autumn but it’s starting to grow back now through the dead bits…and the masses of trapped leaves. All super soggy, so I need to chop it all back to ground level when it’s dry enough to use the secateurs.
Having said that, we do have a pile of branches needing shredding…you’ve whet my appetite for doing that now CG!

Hope everyone has a lovely day- can’t believe it’s weekend already!
Remember to share those lovely smiles peeps…you never know who might just be in need of seeing it.

        • Ooo..just read your post Snoop…I’ve had overnight oats as well today- with grapes . I was thinking of having them more regularly. I’ll only eat organic ones these days after reading that they are the worst thing to eat once they are sprayed with pesticide as they absorb more than other crops…particularly Glyphosate

          • Good afternoon.

It's 11°C and sunny here. At the moment I'm vegetating in front of the TV, working my way through a bag of Galaxy Minstrels that I received as part of a present from my niece in the post this morning.

            • ^Galaxy Minstrels... Well done your niece.

I can't remember when I last had those. I remember them as being really nice. Good contrast between the crunchy outer layer and the chocolate centre.

              • I've just had two Blue Ribands. My reward for weeding a very small patch in a border. I had to sit on a stool to do it, but at least now I know I can, it will be little and often - in theory anyway

Nah…sorry, I wasn’t clear…it’s the OATS which are the problem ( but I think grapes are pretty high up on the list too - unless they are organic)

Have a look at the ‘dirty dozen’ list of fruit and veg…

Thank goodness I grow most of those! ( yes..it’s American, but it does make you stop and think!)

                    • Good afternoon just found out that the post I had written out yes hadnt been posted, sorry about that, it was to thank you all for the good wishes for our anniversary and to say we went out for a light lunch, not out long but was still nice to getting out together, stayed in today but daughter and granddaughter were in to set up a table for a family get-together tomorrow, we actually had planned to take the full family away for the weekend to a air bandb which had snooker tables hot tubs and cinema room, how ever as OH couldnt move at the turn of the year we unfortunately had to cancel this, fortunately as it was early enough we got our deposit back, qbd even though OH is moving now I think it was the right thing to do as she said this morning she's a bit sore from yesterday, I just cant tell you how happy I am that she has improved so much, and the iceing on the cake, she did some dusting this morning

Agreed…but it would be interesting to see a comparison, and find out which raw ingredients from America enter the uk in a processed state.

This is from 2021 , so I’d be interested to see something more up to date…

                              Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

In 2021, the UK imported $5.1 billion of fresh fruit, mainly comprised of bananas, grapes, apples, cranberries, and avocadoes. Also, in the same year, the UK imported $3.3 billion of fresh vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and cucumbers). UK fresh fruit and vegetable imports have generally increased year-to-year, growing at an average of $140 million per year from 2011-2021. The top suppliers of both fruits and vegetables are the EU, South Africa, and Morocco. The top U.S. products that are likely to achieve growth in the UK areapples, grapefruit, pears, sweet potatoes, and table grapes.

Look how many of the dirty dozen are in that list …I would hope there are strict controls over pesticides allowed on imported fruit and veg!
