  • ^The Christmas tree is going up in the village square now. As are stalls for the Christmas fair (first weekend in December). No lights as yet, but they won't be long, I imagine.

    • OH brought down the boxes of decorations from the garage mezzanine today… covered in bat poop as usual…so they’ve been sprayed with dettol and awaiting my inspection later this week.
The outside lights are set up ready to turn on on the 1st December….so I’m ready!
It’s strange, but I normally do a Xmas Fair this coming weekend- from which I’m having a break this year. But now the time is approaching I sort of feel I’ll be missing the first festive event

        • So sorry you and your family Flo, hope everything is now ok with your G.G. so sad for that to happen I pray that she recovers well.

Good evening it has been quite a busy day today, was doing some housework this morning when my nephew and his wife came in, he has been through. the wars as well, when he was in just over three weeks ago e was looking terrible, over weight, grayish colour and sores all over his legs, he actually finished up in hospital.two days later, visited him last week and looking a bit better, but today back to his healthier looking self, he has list over 2 stone in weight, which was all fluid the doc recons it was just a couple of days off the fluid flowing into his lungs and killing him, so one fortunate man. Unfortunately they had to leave early as we were heading to the hospital, I dropped OH off at the door then went to find a parking space once I got into the hospital I picked up a wheel chair moved it round the corner and theres OH sitting in one, so just wheeled her to x-ray department, but my goodness that wheelchair wanted to go its own way, the chair I had picked up was quite new and easy to push but I let her stay in the one she picked, some day I will learn anyway she got her x-ray done but found it very painful, not the x-ray but the moving about, we then headed home but tried timing for getting to the clinic for the blood sample, while the nurse was taking the blood sample sge decided to get the doctor to check her breathing so now has more antibiotics to take. When the nurse was taking OH round to see the doctor I heard her saying I hope he can sound me with my jumper on as I didnt put me bra back on after the x-ray, which of course was my fault, I could always manage to loosen it but never mastered fastening it up Have a good evening and hope you all stay comfortable in bed and not get too warm nor too cold and tomorrow when you are out find something that makes you smile, then pass them on

              • A wee tip with the wheelchairs in hospitals rary, pull rather than push.

Had a lovely walk today, quite warm in the sunshine. Nicos, they do have a cafe but expensive as you can imagine!

                • Good morning.

Far too early to face the day but at least I think I've had about 4 hours of sleep, which is a vast improvement on yesterday. It's freezing outdoors but very pleasant in our bedroom cocooned in the duvet.

The jar of Bovril arrived in the grory hop yesterday. Last night I decided to make us a mugful each before bed. I make it just the same as I make tea .... with a splash of milk. I'd really forgotten how nice it is and with the added bonus of some protein.

My brother in law is home again. I tracked him down at the hospital. I am not really any the wiser as to what caused him to fall but at least he doesn't seem to have done any permanent damage.

I'm going to try and snuggle down again and have another half hour or so now. If not ..... coffee.

                  • Morning n’alln’all

                    * whispers so as not to disturb GF…..

Frosty here too with pretty patterns on the windows.
Hibou didn’t stay out long, so that’s always a sign of how cold it is.
Her little ‘friend’ across the road isn’t coming out much at all any more as she’s ill and not much more can be done for her, so Hibou has lost her ‘playmate’ I say friend and playmate, but it is more of a staring stand off.
Having said that , they stood in unison against the Tom cat who lives in their barn. He looks quite a sweetie, but there’s often clumps of his white and orange fur on our front lawn where our ‘ butter wouldn’t melt’ Hibou reminds him that this is her territory .

Hope everyone has a calm day today and manages to share a smile
Remember to be kind to yourselves too

Oh…and Snoop….could I please have a quiet word with you?
I’m not sure what Jack has been teaching those smiles but they were in a right state as they flew over earlier on. Darting around like there’s no tomorrow. I’m sure one or two of them had dog biscuits in their mouths for goodness sake

I’ve not had Bovril for years. Never heard of anyone adding milk to it…is that unusual or have I lived a protected life?
With GF being such a good cook though, I can imagine it tastes nice if she does it.

                    • Morning all.

Frosty here too, and the sun is shining, making it sparkle and glitter.

I've not heard of milk in Bovril either, and I never liked it, I'm a Marmite person, though I don't often have it now. I expect the jar in the cupboard is a couple of years beyond its BBE date by now, but it keeps forever.

                      • Morning all.

Despite Jack's size now, he's still on puppy biscuits to ensure he's getting the right nutrients for a growing hound. They're very small, so if you could see the biscuits the smiles were carrying, Nicos, I reckon you're right, they've been stealing. I'd better have a word with them when they get home. So far today, Jack has stolen my hairbrush (no idea where it is - this after stealing two of my combs and crunching them into smithereens), two hot water bottles, Mr Snoop's shoes, an empty wine bottle (from off the dining table), a cushion and, of course, the cats' biscuits. There will be other stuff I don't know about (yet). I don't mind the fact that he has raided the firewood boxes. He was named by a little boy after Jack Sparrow and he would have made a good pirate's dog - he is thievery incarnate.

Bright blue out but a freezing cold wind. A day for staying indoors. With any luck I'll be able to hunker down to work without too many interruptions today.

Hope everyone is rested and doing well. Have a great day, everyone.

                        • Good Morning All Frosty with bright blue sky and sun shine. GG is at home waiting for an injection in the hope that she can avoid surgery.
I managed to get compost and grit yesterday, so hoping to plant some bulbs today. Have a good day

                          • Good morning.

I'm just waiting for the heating to work it's magic. All the roofs and cars are white. Supposedly, it is -1°C. Brrrrr!

I've just had a call for my brother in law from the "My therapy" team. They are wanting to go out and see him to try and help him.

Regarding the Bovril, I just used to add boiling water to it to drink it until I was making some for someone else one cold day. They asked for a splash of milk in theirs and convinced me to try it that way. I was permanently convinced. I love Bovril but hate Marmite. Back in the days of mad cow disease, when the Bovril recipe changed for a few years, and was similar to marmite, I couldn't touch it. As a teenager my go to snack after a night out was hot buttered white toast, laden with butter and a smear of Bovril.

Things are warming up. I think I'll soon feel happy to reach out and grab my fleece off the radiator and venture to the kitchen to make coffee.

Apart from trying to push me out of bed last night, and getting woken up and moved back to his side of the bed, Mr GF slept well, and is still asleep. He did half-awake when the phone rang, but only enough to ask who it was.

I've just had a message from Amazon to say my latest parcel is due this morning.

rary, I admit I can be very trying. However I would never put my hands around someones neck. I think that over the years I've learned to be more subtle.

                            Right! Coffee! NOW!

I'm sharing Flo's weather this morning.

I'm a Marmite person my favourite is on toast topped with a poached egg. I've tried Bovril not sure why though, might have to give it a go.

                              Enjoy your day

Flo,sympathy for your GG, I went through the mill with similar problems

Rary,I hope Mrs Rary will get some relief from her es6depain soon,

Bovril would be our choice, reminds me of my childhood, my mother would always make us a mug full if we were feeling under the weather.
