    • One year my Xmas Fair table was next to a guy who was selling homemade nougat. He’d made loads of blocks about 40cmx 20x20 of all different flavours and nut mixes.
People were buying chunks costing 15-20€
He’d sold most of it by the end of the day.
Never , ever , have I drooled near enough constantly for a solid 8 hrs…..
He did offer me a tiny piece right at the end ….and it was heavenly…until the sugar sickliness kicked in. So glad I hadn’t bought a slab!

      • Good afternoon, though that is possibly the wrong greeting as its starting to get darker and lights are on, it has been a cold blustery day today, had to go out this morning and while out I dropped in to a local garage and booked my car in for new breaks, theres no warning light up in the car but I just think new breaks are required, how time changes things I used to do all my maintenance work on the car myself, but just think its too cold to be doing anything like the hat just now well thats the excuse I am using, nothing to do with getting slightly older, abd please note it "slightly,"
Snoop thanks for that advice re the bed I wondered about the possibility of getting injured with that, possibly a single automatic bed would be the better answer, that way OH can position it how she wants and I can spread out and I get the king size bed to my self, though being a gentleman I would allow her to come to my bed at times. Was out at the greenhouse a short time ago, I think I have list a number of plants, but there have been more important things to worry about recently, so not too bothered by that, enjoy you weekend and keep smiling

        • Mornin n’alln’all
Dull but dry here…and it seems to have warmed up a bit!

Yesterday I spotted some red hawthorn berries I could use for Xmas. I didn’t take them as it’s a tad too early?
Anyway…I’ll keep a look out more locally over the next few days.
It was certainly a bumper year for fruit for us….what about berries? Are there lots around your areas?

I’ve got the washing machine earning its living today….onto the third load already! I couldn’t get back to sleep at stupido’clock.fr so went to make a brew ….and popped the first load in then.

I might just be tempted to make a Dorset apple cake today. I went into the creamery where we’re storing the apples and the scent is just amazing. I’ve not needed to discard many so far, so they are storing well.

Anyone doing anything exciting this weekend?
Whatever you do, have a great weekend- we all have a lot to be grateful for…

          • Morning

All day rain forecast here Nicos. There's a local craft fair I'm thinking of going to but that's about it for plans.

            Enjoy your day.

            • Morning all.

Cake sounds good, Nicos. I'm resisting at the moment. But I've got some bananas that could usefully be used up in a cake in a day or so.

Very frosty early on but a bit warmer now. Not much, though. Hazy cloud up top and sun looking a bit feeble - probably a good description of me, in fact.

              Have a great day, everyone.

                • Good morning.

I'm warm and cosy. The heating is on and I've sneaked back to bed with a mug of coffee. Not a bad night's sleep all in all, although Mr GF did wake me up a couple of hours ago by trying to push me out of bed.

The sky is dark grey and cloudy and it is forecast to rain all day.

I got a phone call yesterday from a pharmacist at the hospital. When my brother in law returned home from hospital I presumed that he had been discharged and didn't realise that he is on a "virtual ward". (I think I may have mentioned in the past that he is not the easiest person to have a serious conversation with as he tends to ramble, go off topic, and not give the salient facts).

I must ring him today and check how he is. The pharmacist rang to check that he is taking a new medication that has been prescribed for him as it is evidently very important.

Mr GF has just woke up and I have convinced him to take a painkiller. I don't mind now if he drops to sleep for an hour if he wants while it takes effect.

The electronic TV guide on the TV wasn't working yesterday..... and still wasn't working this morning. I just had a 💡moment. I unplugged the TV, plugged it in again and .

I agree Nicos, lots of things to be grateful for.

No plans for the day other than domestics.

Nicos I treated myself to a lovely wine coloured fur hat.

Silver jewellery, soaps, pottery, chocolates, and gin, all home crafted,
So a good start to my gift list plus it ws lovely to spend the day with my daughter and GG.
Taking it easy today as we did a lot of walking yesterday, my daughters step counter registered 10,400.

                    • Morning all.
It's raining here too, but I'm hoping the "rain before seven, fine before eleven" rule will kick in soon.

I made the willow nesting box yesterday and it looks reasonably like the picture but I made the entrance hole smaller as I'm hoping either a blue tit or a wren will take a shine to it as Spring accommodation. It is very open at the top so I may wind some more willow round it to close the top off if I can. There's lots left over, enough to make another one probably. It's hard on the fingers though, so I'll leave it a few days before having another go.

Crikey bramble…you are waaay fitter than me! ….and home crafted too…something special about supporting local artisans isn’t there?
Sadly it’s too easy to click online these days and it arrives in the post.
That’s sounds like a perfect day to me - you deserve a day to yourself ready for the next round of festive shopping!

Its started pouring down here and looks set in for the day , so the walk I was planning isn’t going to happen.. Think I’ll start having a rummage through the Xmas decorations and decide on the ones I don’t want to put out this year.

Well done sorting out the TV GF…. A virtual technical ‘Well done’ sticker heading its way to you!
I’ll pass one to my OH whilst I’m at it…he managed to fix the boiler timer. It turned out to be the clock had somehow reset itself wrongly - so we need to keep a closer eye on it , as no doubt it’ll probably go wrong again, but it was a simple matter of pressing a few hidden buttons… and holding them down for a few seconds. ( bit like the previous darned cooker clock/ timer which we never got the hang of for years)

                        • Good afternoon, frost this morning but now occasional sunshine, we both got a full nights sleep last night, so thought things are improving,, when I got out of bed I dis a washing, and have act got it hanging out, dont know if it will dry but worth trying, OH has said it wont dry unfortunately I think she is right as the pavements dont show any sign of drying, but hopefully she is wrong, time will tell went up the town to collect a prescription for OH, got some messages, went to the church to adjust the heating as there was a tinsel and torch light parade in the town last night and the church was used for people to get some soup etc. so thought better put everything off now just in case I forget, then when I came back home OH was feeling a bit nauseous, made her a cup of tea but then she was sick, looking around she has been trying to do some dusting and cleaning of the kitchen, which of course led to me getting a lecture of not doing these things on a regular basis and telling me she doesn't like seeing things lying about the kitchen or dust on any furniture, so she has now been told if she will just sit in her chair in the livingroom so she can look out the window she wont see either dust nor things in the kitchen, by the way the things in the kitchen were dishes and cutlery that had been washed after breakfast a loaf of bread which I had sealed but not put pastand a tub of butter that I hadn't put back in the fridge, as for the dust, I had spent a bit of time this morning rearranging some furniture for her, so she could see out the wibdow, which no doubt would cause some dust but if she just sits back shuts her eyes she wont see it, but somehow I don't think she accepts that, anyway have a good day and find something that makes you smile then pass on the smiles

                          • Its been ..... er, persisting it down most of the morning, So I sent Mrs G out with the main man ... Actually she went to a dog park with two friends and their dogs (A cocker, Schnauzer and a rotweiller) he came back wet thru and hungry Mrs G was wet thru ... So sorted him out and made the coffee's. Then ordered a couple of harnesses for his nibs (Mrs G refuses to wear one) and thats it for us. Just catching up on a few things now and then I shall read a bit mmore of my birthday pressie (a book about our village) and making more coffee's

Tomorrow is the allocated day to start putting the Xmas decorations up. Not the greenery and trees, but some of the more simple stuff

Fingers crossed for all the insomniacs…time to crash out…
