      • Speaking of which…do people still have old gardening knives?

Ours was an old bread knife sharpened so many times over well over 100 years , that it was just a thin long blade.
        Perfect for cutting asparagus etc….

          • Morning all.

A bit of drizzle in the night by the look of things. Looks like we might get a bit throughout the day. Just enough to wet the weed seeds...

Enough to keep me busy indoors for most of the morning and then a bit of chauffeuring for Mr Snoop this afternoon. Plus a Marks and Sparks delivery to collect from the village while I'm out and about. It feels amazing being able to shop in M&S despite being in the middle of nowhere in a different country. The prices are high, seeing as they have to cover customs and the like, but still worth it for me and brilliant not to have to go anywhere!

Have a great day, everyone. Enjoy IKEA, Nicos. If they have fancy buns or the like, eat one for me!

            • Morning all.

Wet here and looks set like that for the whole morning.
Nicos, I have an old bread knife in the shed, it's good for cutting asparagus, as you say, and for courgettes and kale. It's not been sharpened so still has a bit of a saw edge on it. Got to be 60 years old if it's a day.

Had the boiler serviced yesterday, the last "of the to do" jobs for this month, so I got up this morning knowing there is absolutely nothing that needs doing and the whole day is mine to idle about as I please. I still have a pile of beeswax so I could refine that down again and make a few candles. It's a messy process though so I may leave it for now and just enjoy the free day.

              • Good morning all.

I am happy to say that I've slept like a log ... again. I fell asleep watching TV in bed last night and only woke once at around 2.30am when Mr GF was having a bad dream and yelled out. ...

............ I wrote that last paragraph about 2 hours ago. I was thinking then about making a cup of coffee but somehow I ended up back in the arms of Morpheus😴😴😴

I've just turned the heating up, and am again contemplating coffee.

It's grey and chilly outside, a maximum 11°C today.

Mr GF's riser recliner arrived as promised yesterday morning. It's nice and quiet and seems to do the job. I've put the "air mattress" thing on it, provided by the district nurse, and blown it up, hopefully to prevent more pressure sores.

The district nurse also visited again yesterday. They are all very nice.

I hope you enjoy your trip to Ikea, Nicos, not a place that I would brave at half term. I haven't visited for a few years now but have ordered from their website on several occasions.

Our gardening knives were, coincidentally, originally a set of kitchen knives from Ikea. They were the only thing that I 've bought from there that really did not impress me.

Rary, I think I'd rather imagine you as bossy Druid rather than a tantrum throwing baby. 🫣🤣

                Coffee can't wait any longer.

Has anyone heard anything from lottie dolly? She doesn't seem to have been around for a while.

                • Morning

I also have a old bread knife that's really handy so gets used for all sorts of things, then there's my collection of old spoons good got filling loo roll tubes, modules, small pots and potting on seedlings.

I'm card making today while waiting in for a parcel, just birthday cards not 'winter' ones just yet.

                  Enjoy your day

                    • Good morning all. Back home and it's unpacking and storing away the summer clothes.
Its a cool 9 degs here, sunny at the minute but rain forecast.
I was very surprised to see the ammount of colour stil in my garden.
Dahlias, nasturtiums, Rudbeckia, verbena and my lovely Golden anniversary rose which has ten lovely flowers on itl
Lots of weeds and leaves to tidy and pull up if the rain stays away.
                      Have a good day all.

Are you the only one who ever sharpened it, or did you let others do it as well for experience

                        • Good to see you back bramble, nice to have someone who never tries to slag me off, as no doubt you will note some of the older folk on here have been a bit sore on me recently, I think there's a touch of envy, but they really need to remember that they had their time of being young, and I deserve my time now, then again as it was such a long time for some of them they may not remember their time

                            • You are so right bramble, though I think its more envy because we still have youth on our side rather than jealousy, after all they really are a nice bunch on here and we might be the same when we are their age
