Morning all.
The wind has suddenly kicked up. According to the weather folk, it's going to be bright today, followed by a few cold and cloudy days, even a bit of drizzle. Jack is a dreadful water wuss and hates the cold. Whatever breed he is, he only has a single layer coat, no downy underfluff. I think he might need a winter jacket. I've just looked them up but I cannot imagine how you get one onto an outsize puppy who's very strong and wriggly. I did a rough measurement this morning while he was flopped out on the floor. A metre and a half from nose to tail, not at full stretch. Not quite six months old.
More of the usual on the cards today, with domestics interspersed for light entertainment. Not.
Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning.
I'm wide awake but I 've really slept ..... and slept ..... and slept. I have got up a couple of times to make drinks and potted meat sandwiches. I can hear the bin men now, rattling around outside. I've just turned the heating up high. Mr GF needs to acclimatise to normal temperatures slowly after the hot house of a hospital. He has spent all night snuggled up tightly and is toasty warm at the moment.
My grory hop is due between 10am and 11am and I've a couple of Amazon orders due today too. They usually deliver in the afternoon.
At one point in the night Mr GF woke up and immediately started to say, " I want to go ho....", before realising he was home, smiling, and closing his eyes again.
The district nurse is calling round tomorrow. The social services woman was asking about managing for shopping etc. She seemed happy when I told her that Sains***ys and Amazon do all the hard work and I'd changed our method of ordering prescriptions so that I can order them online from the doctor's and the chemist will deliver them. I heard her asking a man in the bed opposite, who was going home, how he was going to manage. He was telling her that his friend would be going shopping for him the morning after he got home, but he had no fresh bread and milk in until then. Bread and milk appeared along with his discharge
paperwork and medicines. I was really impressed.
Rary, I am sure that Mrs Rary is spoiling you as much as you let her. I agree with you about 'Elf and Safety. It used to be non-existant. How did we survive? Time to get up now, and try to regain some semblance of reality.
Look after yourselves.

Morning all.
So pleased for you, GF, that Mr GF is home again. As Bren said, your own bed is best.
Happy Mr GF!
It's been drizzling here all morning but now seems to be brightening up. I need to take all the branches I've cut to the tip, they are too woody to compost at home. Half the hedge is down and I'm so happy to have dug out the roots yesterday while the soil was still dry and friable. I had to re-locate quite a few sleepy ladybirds which had obviously decided the hedge was a good over-wintering home.

Afternoon n’alln’all
We lost our internet during the very early hours of the morning….exceptionally strong wind have most likely dropped a few branches onto the internet cables. They didn’t bury them. I guess because it was quicker and cheaper , but possibly because we are in a granite area and that would have been very difficult to cut through near surface rocks?
Sounds like Mr GF had a lovely snuggly night - so pleased for you both.Did he snore?…if so I bet you didn’t care!
Our rains have eased off now to a steady flow but with sudden heavier downpours, and it’s still windy, but less so. Let’s hope that is the end of storm Benjamin?
Has anyone had any damage? Apparently there was a tornado near Paris- blowing over several cranes and killing and severely injuring people. Not the sort of thing you’d expect. Very sad.
Looks like we have a whole more leaves to get up off the drive. All good stuff and very useful for next year. I wonder how well they can be used as mulch?…I imagine they’d blow away unless I leave fleece over the top of them?

Only just got home after a trip out for a few hours in the camper.
Only to end up with a puncture in the pouring rain and high winds.
Foam instant repair wouldn’t work…so it was a matter of changing the spare….which wasn’t easy to do…overtightened everything.
5 cars ended up stopping to see if we needed help. Probably only 10 passed us …but it’s the law here to stop and help…thank goodness!
So- that’s two punctures in a fortnight- one for each vehicle. The first was a big metal stud on a spike…this one was a very pointy stone.
It’s having it’s MOT next week so we need to get that sorted pronto.
