  • Morning

A dry day here and the winds calmed down, its left plenty of twigs and branches around the garden to clear but no damage. Apple gathering, a bit of shopping and domestics here.

    enjoy your day

    • Good morning all, a sunny morning and the wind has dropped.
Going line dancing so will catch up later

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      • Morning all.

Morning errands already done and am sitting having a break with a KitKat. Can't remember when I last had a KitKat. When did they change? This one is a peanut butter Chunky KitKat. Not at all what I was expecting and extremely cloying. Not quite the treat I was hoping for. Which is no bad thing if it means I'm going off chocolate bars. Unlikely as that may seem.

Got plenty to keep me busy today. Jack is in doting mode at the moment, lying across my feet and giving the occasional squeak so I'll bend down and give him a fuss. It would be better for both of us if I stayed sitting at the computer and got some work done. He really does have moods. I wish I could dial down his euphoria at waking up in the morning, though. No chance of a gentle start to the day here any more.

Hope you're doing OK, Containergardener. Have missed you these last few days.

        Have a great day, everyone.

        • Good morning all.

Cloudy and chilly here with rain expected shortly. The heating is on. I think that I actually had a half decent night's sleep.

My online shop is due this morning. According to the email I'm getting everything that I ordered. Oh, how times change! I just had a flash of memory of a much younger/fitter me doing my shopping by dinghy.

I ordered a set of 6 shallow pasta bowls from Amazon at the weekend. They're about 8 inches in diameter and an inch deep. My everyday dinner plates are about 12 inches in diameter but included in that is a 2 inch border all the way around. The pasta bowls therefore have a very similar area for actual food. I ordered the pasta bowls as every time recently that I give Mr GF a meal on a dinner plate he glares at it and says that I've given him too much ... I haven't. I decided that it was the large plates that might be the problem. Yesterday evening I gave him his meal in one of the new pasta bowls, the same amount as usual, but told him I'd just made him a small plateful. Amazingly he happily ate the lot, without a moan.

My everyday tableware these days is black and white. I started off with a basic black and white polka dot set, but then the only criteria for replacements, extras etc is the colour, black and/or white. I don't mind stripes, spots or anything else.

I think I'll make a Victoria sponge later today and take half for my brother in law. He's just been on the phone as it seems he is having a problem with a prescription. I've told him what to do about it, and hope that he succeeds, but I still have a sneaky suspicion that I might be running round after the item later. I think I'll try and convince him to move to our chemist's which is closer and helpful.

Time to hunt for my Victoria sponge tins.

Blimey. I must of heard you.

I was outside earlier and thought "oh I've not logged in for a bit" and here I am.
The weather has had me hibernating, even the woodburner has been on at night (apart from last night which seemed warmer). Not been in the garden until today as the sun briefly appeared ..and went..and appeared.. and went
The greenhouse toms had suffered with the weather/change in temp and some botrytis appeared. As the weather looks dire the next few days I've picked all the toms - green and they will ripen indoors.

Some white cells are also high, no idea why so to have another scan of lungs to see what they're like after been rinsed out. White cells is for renal team (today) to look at.

            • CG, I hope all goes well with the consultant.🤞

Snoop Puss, I read Jack being in doting mode as "dating" mode, which had me worried.🫣

I've just ordered another dozen half pint plastic pudding basins direct from the company, cheaper than buying from a middleman. I could actually probably find enough in the fridge and freezer if I really tried but they are full. I find them so useful for storing things like chicken stock, paté, potted meat and general leftovers.

Not sure I'd like having my lungs rinsed out. No idea what's entailed, but having nearly drowned once as a child, my imagination has run wild. Hope it's not too awful a procedure.

                  • Good afternoon, again another mixed day weather wise, some heavy showers then sunshine for a short time, shopping this morning then a visit to our friend before heading home for a quick bite then I fitted a new light into the garage, not sure if it's the best thing to do, it is so much brighter, but with that OH can see the mess its in easier just have to keep her away from the garage when I open the door, GF you are right no doubt the grandkids could help with computer and internet problems, unfortunately, wben I have the problems they are either at work or in school and its no use them telling me what to do, as once the go home I have orher more important things to think about, like, should I have a piece with butter and jam or should I wait till after tea and what's for tea anyway thinfs have to be prioritised abd compr work is away down the list, and after mentioning tea I'm off to prepare the tea for tonight, so wishing you alk a pleae evening and please pass on the smiles

                    • Good night all.
Just popped in to ask if any peeps watched the final of the Sewing Bee,
What a talented group of sewers and some fabulous dresses and costumes .
I will miss it now that's it's ended. Not enough home grown programmes,

                      • Mornin n’alln’all
Guess who had a good night’s sleep!

I didn’t watch it bramble… we watched the Horse Whisperer instead in memory of Robert Redford. Very sad news ….such a handsome, talented bloke.

Busy day ahead…but firstly I need to collect more windfall apples and pears . I do so love the smell of cooking apples- so homely!
We are off up near the coast later so might pop into a large electrical shop and buy a TV.
The previous one we ordered from elsewhere arrived with a cracked screen and wouldn’t even turn on. We waited 2 days for the courier to collect it - but they didn’t. The seller said to take it to the tip for recycling and he’d refund our money in full. We did look to see if we could donate it elsewhere so it could be cannibalised , but no one was interested. Such a dreadful waste seeing as everything inside was brand new. Something wrong ( and disappointing) with not being able to find someone who could use it.

                        Anyway, we’ll see.

Hope everyone had a great day…someone is in for a treat having seen the smiles overhead brimming with excitement!

                        • Good morning.

I'm waiting in bed for the heating to warm things up. It's a miserable morning. Very wet. I think it was the sound of the rain that woke me up before 6am. It feels more like November than September.

I was going to visit my brother in law today but I don't think that I'll convince Mr GF to set foot outside unless the weather improves.

                          Time for coffee.

                          • Morning all.

I'm hopeless with a needle and thread, bramble, but I always admire people who are good at sewing. Such a practical skill. I haven't seen the programme, but I noticed you and Nicos have mentioned it a couple of times.

Jack was very hard work on the walk today. I'll be glad when he grows up a bit. Time for another cup of tea now to recover. I'll put the kettle on for a pot if anyone wants to join me.

Got errands in the village today at some point. I haven't driven a car so much in years. All the out-of-towners have gone back home now, so parking isn't so much of an issue these days.

Right, better get that kettle and some work on the go.

                            Have a great day, everyone.

                            • Good morning, dull and damp this morning, however I intend to get some work done in the garden today so hopefully it will stay reasonably dry, however if it doesn't I'm sure OH will find something for me to do, and as GF says its more like November than September, as we have the heating on now, and brambles comment re the sewing programme I never watched it, but do remember how my mother could make clothes and the likes in no time at all and quite a lot done by hand rather than a sewing machine, actually I used to do all the hemming in the house as I did a neater job than OH, canw do it now though as I dont have sufficient feeling in my finger tips now, need to go as the person who services the church boiler is coming to fit a new pump, so will need to let him in. Have a good day whatever the wether, and remember you can spread the sunshine by sharing your smiles,

What a wet morning, dog walk included the brolly today

Yes I watched sewing bee first thing this morning as I'd gone to bed before it was on. I love it. I will miss it too

Snoop it wasn't as bad as it sounds. It was done during my bronchoscopy, it was just saline they put in and take straight back out.
Appt ok yesterday, she isn't sure re the fungus, mentioned another type of my autoimmune which it could be but is more bothered incase I come out of remission. Not had treatment for 5years now and no steroids a year. My diastolic part of my bp is still higher than she would like so I'm going to try to get that lower somehow before seeing her again.
Onwards with the day we go.
