  • Afternoon all
We decided to head into town and had a lovely Mexican meal, so nice and will go there again.
Starter, mains and shared a fried icecream. OH had his beers and I drove, popped into the chocolate shop before heading home. Will sample some later

    • Afternoon!
Guess who has their cooker shelf

Delay?????” We would have sent you an email” …urrrr nope. Someone needs a kick up their derrière
Anyway…guess who is now a happy bunny

All shopping up to date which is a lovely feeling. Funnily enough GH , guess who bought lemons today to make some lemon curd too. Yum.

The sun is busy shining here but we had a heck of a storm earlier….needless to say that our lawn is, yet again, covered in windfall apples and mirabelles.

I did consider lighting the wood burner last night too…just a couple of logs, but I ended up snuggling a hotwater bottle under a blanket watching the TV whilst OH sat there in his teashirt.

Looks like Hibou has pulled a muscle in her back or leg. I’ve had a fiddle but can’t find a spot, but she is limping. No splinters/ claw damage, so if it doesn’t get better soon, it looks like a trip to the vets will be in order. I do wish she’d stop fighting with the local stray Tom cat - she seems to think she’s in her prime

      • I have now made 3 jars of lemon curd, and 3 large banana loaves. The smell coming out of my kitchen earlier was delightful. I was thinking of mixing up some Chris***s puddings next, ready to steam this evening, however, on checking the recipe the one thing I haven't got is any spare bread to make breadcrumbs. So mañana will do.

We have had a few lightish showers this afternoon.... but we really need a lot more.

If I am feeling generous tomorrow my brother in law will get a jar of lemon curd and a banana loaf along with his shopping.

        • Lemon curd reminds me of my dad, he loved a lemon curd butty. Mum always made jam tarts and lemon curd ones.
I had a lemon curd yoghurt yesterday
Never tried making the actual curd.

          • Good evening, we have had squally showers all day and quite a drop in temperature as well, I think the heating will be going on shortly, I have suggested to OH that we get one of those cuddle close type suits so that we can keep warm, but I got a strong feeling that she wasnt in favour of that, even though it did sound like she agreed, " Aye that will be right" (aye by the way means yes) talk about mixed messages oh and LD I think OH has found your motivation, but is trying to get me to use it, please when you get it back, keep it to yourself, was at the surgery this morning to check my blood pressure and give a blood sample to check there is no ill effects from one of the tablets I have to take, I asked when I can get off the tablets but was told I could be on them permanently, I dont think that's going to happen, I also went over and collected a couple of bags of seaweed as I need to get moving on making some new soil for my tomato bed. Have a pleasant evening and when out find something to smile about and then pass it on

              • And I use ‘Merry Berry’s’ recipe from here….

It really is quite simple isn’t it GF?
I think maybe mine might be a tad richer as it only uses egg yolks

Oh yum I will certainly have a go at lemon curd. Probably make less as only me likely will have any, could put it on my yoghurt.
                  Some diet I'm on

Loads of heavy rain overnight, I hope those in need get the same.
OH has a drs appt today, the new triage system does seem to work better. Not an urgent appt but got in anyway. Then my camera appt and OH will go and get tyres on the car (that's new tyres- we aren't driving around without any) while I'm in there.

                  Tea, coffee?

                  • Mornin n’alln’all
Another rubbish night Certainly helped though by Hibou jumping on the bed and demanding cuddles. Looks like her pain has vastly reduced so it does sound like she strained something fighting with the other cat. She needs an experienced someone like Rary to remind her of what her limitations should be at her age

Its a pretty dark and drizzly start to the day here so I actually fancy pottering around in the house, doing a bit of sorting, tidying away and getting a few bags of charity stuff in the car ready to drop off when we next pass by. It’ll feel good getting on with that…plus cooking down more windfall apples.
The local communal fruit press is opening a few weeks earlier this year to help cope with the local glut, so that should be handy - otherwise they’ll be rotting!

Positive vibes being sent to all those with medical appointments over the next few days…the smiles whizzed overhead earlier looking like they were on a mission. Lots of people to visit I guess?

                    Enjoy your day peeps x

                    • Morning

Nicos our apples haven't done very well this year. One tree failed all together, the other only that's in a more sheltered position has around half as many apples than usual. It must have been that late frost.

                      Enjoy your day

                      • Good morning all.

Another rubbish night here too. There's no rhyme, reason or logic to it.

I never have a problem finding homes for any extra lemon curd. Yesterday mine made two 12 ounce jars and a little jar. I was thinking that it is quite expensive to make nowadays, and just out of interest, had a look at the price in the supermarket. The own brand one was considerably cheaper than mine costs to make. I then looked at the ingredients and decided that I wouldn't want to put it in my mouth! How do they get away with calling it lemon curd? The 'Bonne Maman' one was dearer that mine cost but didn't contain all the rubbish that was in the cheap one. I think that Mr GF will be having some of mine with his croissant this morning.

My grory hop is due again this morning.

Good luck with your appointment, CG.

                        • Good Morning All Lovely and sunny here, but a bit nippy. Lord Ginger has been, but shot off when I started spraying polish! I've noticed he does that too if a plastic bag is rustled. Weird cat.

Hope all goes well for the clinical appointments for Mr Snoop and CG.
                          Have a good day

                          • Morning all.

A very chilly night here last night and a very cool start to the day. Just right now, maybe mid-twenties with a gentle breeze.

Slow start to the day, as have been renegotiating deadlines with clients. All sorted to mutual satisfaction. Phew! Maybe that's what the smiles were whizzing about for, Nicos. Certainly nothing to do with Jack unless they've been egging him on. Not a good boy this morning. Constant pulling on the lead and he pinched the goat's cheese we were going to have for breakfast. He's not in my good books today.

Right, better get on with things.

                            Have a great day, everyone.

                            • Flo, I love the idea of the archaeologist coming to see Mr Flo ....... I suppose that they both work with old bones.

There is absolute silence here, apart from the washing machine. Mr GF is concentrating totally on not wasting any of the lemon curd that he's having with his croissant.

My grory hop has been delivered and I've put it all away. The washer has just finished and the rain will hopefully stay away until I get it dried.

                              • Good afternoon was out doing some shopping earlier then a visit to our friend before getting home for lunch, was quite blustery but now settled down a bit
just waiting to take OH to the surgery to give a blood sample, , she's quite happy to give that, but if I ask for a fiver!!! Won't be doing much this afternoon anyway as I need to get things prepared for the garden club tonight, it's usually a review of the garden over the summer but as I have to miss next month I think I will go with preparing for winter, will see how the evening develops. Need to go with OH, so enjoy the day and keep the smiles going
