  • Good morning all.

It's already in the 20s here with a forecast high of high 26 to 28°C.

One of my jobs this morning is to finish off clearing up the mess that I made last night in the kitchen. I had made chicken stock in the slow cooker and then poured the contents of the slow cooker through a metal seive balanced over a plastic jug. Somehow while making a mug of tea for Mr GF, while waiting for it to drain, I managed to knock the jug and it's contents flying! What a mess! Apart from losing all my chicken stock I can't believe how far it spread. Lesson learned. Next time I will drain it into a heavy pan rather than a flimsy plastic jug. I wouldn't have minded borrowing Rary's rose tinted glasses.

We have rain forecast for every day for the rest of the week, so I really ought to make the most of today. I've practically forgotten what rain looks/feels like.

I've just been on the phone with my brother in law. He was having carers calling 4 times daily when he was discharged from hospital. He reduced that once a day when he had a review. He has now decided that he doesn't need them at all. He says they are totally unreliable and on occasions when they've been hours late he's managed to do everything himself with no problems. His cleaner/shopper should also be back from her cruise any time. I have added him some bits to my tomorrow's shopping list however. I think I might add bananas to my list and when they're nice and ripe I'll make us both a banana loaf.

    • Sympathise with the carer situation, the ones mil had were either non existent or there a few minutes
They're given way too many visits to do in the allocated times.

It's warm sun cloud here, neighbour has been round with the bag of plums as they're going on holiday. Then came back round to say go and help myself if I want more as they'll spoil otherwise.
We have rain from tonight I think. Have my bedding drying on the line, there's a nice breeze now.
Going to sow some seeds after this cuppa and caramel kitkat.

      • Good afternoon, sun now through and warming up, have been busy hoovering and washing floors, the garden club members are coming tomorrow night, they are coming to see the garden and to sit round a fire and have a blether, so dont know why everywhere had to got done, they might be in the conservatory, which has a door out to the garden, or using the toilet where they can enter the back door into the hall where the toilet is, so why had I to do the living room, dining room and bedroom, I think I have been used, anyway they are done so now to get out to the garden and tidy up a bit, though mentioning the toilew reminded me that I will need to fit the 50p entry lock to the door. Have a good day and keep smiling 🙂

        • Afternoon all.

Busy morning, as had a few chores to do. No walk for Jack beforehand, but he's currently fast asleep in his basket so I'll leave him till his evening walk.

Really should be making some headway with work, but I wouldn't mind sleeping either.

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

          • Afternoon all, another lovely day here. Started my new treatment on Wednesday was fine until Saturday when wham I had to take a lie down for an hour. If that’s the only side effect and it works I’m quite happy.
Other than that not a lot happening. We officially have a giant for a granddaughter! 6 weeks old and in the 98th percentile for weight!! Goodness knows what they are feeding her 😂 The doctor said that her weight to height proportion is perfect so nothing to worry about!
Enjoy your day, here’s hoping we get a couple more nice days before it’s officially autumn! x

                  • Ended up going into the town for a few bits and pieces.
A bit more tidying up in the garden and the greenhouse.
We didn't have any rain here but light rain is on the cards

Jay, I wish you well with your new treatment.
Good to hear you have such a healthy granddaughter.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

                    • Best of luck with your new treatment, Jay.

As I think summer is coming to an end I was grabbing all sorts of things today and throwing them in the washing machine. I even threw the non slip rubber mat that goes in the bottom of the bath in and the shower curtain. That then led me to blitz the bathroom, a rare event. Usually I just do what is absolutely necessary. I'll never be a domestic goddess. If there are shortcuts, I'll seek them out.

A 50p entry lock, Rary? You'll be telling us that you buy Izal toilet paper next. Newspaper was preferable to that.

A useless piece of history. Did you know that the Romans used to use a sponge on a stick instead of paper....... it was for communal use.

Heard bits of rain in the night but not much, supposed to be heavy rain now then OK again. OH was in work early today to finish to come with me for my results. All the dog did was bark, so much for a lie in.
Going to bake a bread now.
                        Kettle is on.

                        • Morning CG, morning all.

Hope the results go OK, CG. Worrying times for quite a few people on here.

Horrendous, GF. You can just imagine Roman Cluedo. It was Julius in the latrina with the sponge or Colonellus Sinapsis in the balneo with the lead piping. All Latin words courtesy of Google Translate.

Woke up with a start this morning, thinking I was going to be late for the dog walk with E. But wrong day: it's tomorrow.

Got the usuals to do, plus a decent tidy-up as Mr Snoop's riser-recliner chair is arriving today, with any luck.

                          Have a great day, everyone.

Tsk..Izal medicated …whoever invented that?… Absolutely dreadful…I can smell it now….the roll was worse than the box of folded papers…

CG…fingers and toes crossed for you for today xx
Jay…and you too with the new treatment xx

I had a rubbish sleep last night…cant blame a full moon though
A gentle day for me- I think I’ve been overdoing it in the garden. I do have a pile of ironing waving at me but that will have to wait!

Yesterday evening was incredibly hot. 28C on the patio at bedtime…but it’s dropped dramatically today . I wonder if that is going to feel like it was the last day of summer weather-wise?
We need to take down our tent style shelter before the rains arrive tomorrow.
We desperately need rain, so I’m not complaining!

Enjoy your day peeps…keep up those smiles xx
