    • Good evening it has been a mixed day with cloud and sun fortunately no rain, when I first read aboutyour scales Nicos I thought it was your personal scales you had burnt out but I now see its kitchen scales so good cooking with them. I have a problem with a wall moving a bit more so collected all the material I need to stop it moving, OH went such a length about me supposed to be taking it easy, so I gave in and contacted a company who do landscaping, fencing etc. he came over with one of his workers late afternoon, who was supposed to make a start, he spent more time telling me that I needed toget a load of concrete over the scaffold pipe I intend using, we eventually came to an agreement that my method was the better of the two, he then told me he cant start the job till Saturday, then went home, his tools were left at my house, so once OH started watching the telly, I went out to the garden, but thought that that job could get done in no time, so started doing it myself, all I have to do tomorrow is replace the monoblock plus avoid OH seeing it, so, work cut out for tomorrow I,wish you all goodnight and keep smiling
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

      • Mornin n’alln’all,D

I’ve just let Hibou out am am surprised how dark it is!
All those sunny days of cloudless skies certainly made a heck of a difference to how bright it’s been at both ends of the day. I thought it was bedtime last night because if how dark it was…turned out to be 9.15 pm!…then I realised that is 8.15 pm in UK. Wow…then I nights are certainly drawing in fast for you guys!

Rary…you don’t really need reminding, but do please take care xx

CG….hope you feel a bit better today?…thinking of you . Hope you get sorted soon x

GF…good news about your BIL…that’s one less worry for you on top of him feeling he’s being looked after properly.

Enjoy your day peeps …and keep sharing those smiles…you never know who you might be helping out. X
( Rary…somehow I imagine you have a somewhat cheeky/ contented type of smile!)

        • Morning all.

Yes, Nicos, dark and distinctly chilly this morning when I took Jack out for his walk with E and his dog. E even had a snood over his head and was wearing a jacket. Me, I hadn't even taken a jumper. Mind you, probably just as well, as E walks so fast I'd just have got hot and rather dewy, to put it mildly. E reckons I'll be ready for his long walk (which he runs) with lots of ups and downs in six months... Anyway, looks like the walks will become daily starting this weekend as his other walking partner is heading back home after his holidays. Jack will be over the moon.

Loads on the cards today. Mr Snoop got a prescription for increased painkillers yesterday. So he actually managed to sleep in the afternoon, which in turn meant I could too. So a fair bit of catching up to do (just as well none of you have got long-distance specs, so you can't see the pile of washing-up). With any luck, there will be another spell of eyelid inspecting this afternoon too.

          Have a great day, everyone.

            • Good morning all.

It feels rather Autumnal here too this morning again. I did actually consider turning the thermostat up, to bring on the heating, when I awoke! Is it really still August? I sneaked back into bed instead.

I've got a grory hop arriving this morning, mostly mine, but a few bits added for my brother in law whose cleaner/shopper is still on her cruise. I'll drop them off for him later.

I have now given in. The heating is on!

Nicos, I imagine that rary has a naughty, smug little boy smile, particularly when he thinks that he is getting his own way. I 'm sure that Mrs rary is wise to all his shenanigans.

Snoop Puss, I hope that the painkillers help Mr Snoop until he can find out what is wrong and get treatment.

My new sheets arrived last night. I've washed them and am hoping that the sun appears here eventually so that they can go outside to dry.

I think the heating has warmed things up now, so I'll drag myself out of bed and into the kitchen to make coffee.

Another cooler day today we're thinking for changing to the winter duvet it just seems to early, so last night I put a throw on the bed instead.

Grory hop at some point, gardening and roasting a few trays of tomatoes.

                Enjoy your day

                • Bren In Pots, great minds think alike. I think my Summer quilt is going to be put away next time I change my bed. Considering the speed that we are heading into Autumn I'll root out Mr GF's heated throw too.

                      • Morning all.

Distinctly cooler today, I put on long trousers and a light jacket to go for a walk earlier. The sun is warm, but the wind has a northern chill. I'll be out in the garden later to do some deadheading and tidying up. i'm undecided whether to pull up the French beans. Since I don't water, they are looking very sad in the leaf department, and yet there are a lot of flowers still coming, so if it should chance to rain they will carry on producing. On the other hand, I have some daikon seedlings that really need planting out, and I've nowhere to put them.

All this talk of putting on the winter duvets - I think we just need a few cooler days to adjust to the lower temps, then summer duvets will feel warm enough. That said, I sleep under a 9 tog duvet winter and summer alike, except in excessive heat, when I just fling it off.

                        • Good morning all it's a little on the dull side, the sun is trying to come out.
Domestics and a grory hop this morning.
A visit to the hair dressers this afternoon and then out for dinner.

Hugs and well wishes to all who are feeling under the weather.

Lottie, I love your enthusiasm but don't over do it.

Snoop, hope the pain killers helps Mr Snoop to get some sleep.

Take care all and have a good day,

                          • The grory hop has been delivered, and I've now put it all away. I've managed somehow to fit all the ice cream/croissants,etc, into the freezer.

My brother in law has already been on the phone. A big box of "medical supplies", ordered by the district nurse, has been delivered to him. He's says he's no idea what most of the things are. I'll have a look when I drop his shopping off later.

Mr GF was waxing lyrical when I got him up, as his towel was lovely and warm when I took it off the heated towel rail. I think it's made his day.

I think my next job is to give Mr GF's hearing aids a mini service, and put him new batteries in. He will have no excuse then for ignoring me!

CG, I hope that both your mum's and your appointments go well and are reasonably easy to find. Evidently all the out patient scans around here are now done at the place that I took my brother in law to for his heart monitor fitting. In theory a great idea, easy to get to and free parking right outside.

mothhawk, I bought a four seasons duvet a few years ago. A 10.5 tog and 4.5 tog which can fasten together to make 15 tog. I've never remotely needed to clip them together though.

                            • I replaced the duvet with a sheet last week, but I've had to add a fleece throw and I was thinking of putting the duvet back on! It's Sod's Law that as soon as I do, the warm weather will return!

                              • I've got one of those kicking around somewhere, GF, that my mum had several years ago, but she found it far heavier than a regular 15 tog duvet, so only ever used the 4 tog in the summer and went back to her regular 9 or 15 tog in winter, depending on the weather.

We're only 10 days away from September! Where did summer go?

Had an email to say my lampshades are due to be delivered Saturday. On the website it said expect delivery in 7 - 10 days as they are handmade to order, so that is delivery only 6 days from ordering. Brilliant!
